Murray will likely be a Colt....that's what I'm guessing. This is a huge but the right gamble IMO letting him walk. The good teams let players who aren't corner stone players/positions walk even after developing them , because the can be replace on the cheap it's a formula that the better franchise over the pass 10 years are so have used. If we land AP on a short term contract or draft Melvin we will bounce back. As long as this OL keeps Romo healthy and Dez continues to develop his route tree I think we will get production out of the RB position if the guy has even avg NFL Talent. I say draft Gordon and try abd sign a Spiller like change of pace rb on the cheap.

I think the Colts will come hard for him, as will the Cards. The Bills as well, exactly what Rex Ryan likes

That may be True, but did you know this last year his YPC behind our "great line" was actually lower than his career average?

Interesting. Probably has a lot to do with the number of carries? Will have to look into that.

Damn. Initially I was against drafting melvin gordon. I have changed my mind. If he can pass protect I am on the gordon bandwagon. Looks like he is going to be a stud. Great vision and has great initial explosion. And trade a 7th round pick for ap and sign him to a home town discount and cut randle whom appears to be headed down the wrong path

I don't think we can trade and sign for AP. We would need AP to be released before we could afford him, I think.

good luck with the Colts with an awful o-line. Murray will take a beating before he even gets to the line of scrimmage there.

I remain old school cause I still can't define wide receiver as a corner stone position. I don't see where the better franchises in this league have doubled down on wide receiver

QB is far away #1, and defense is #2. If you have a solid OL like Dallas and then serviceable WR's/TE/RB then you can make the SB. Look at the two teams this year. Lynch is a beast, but other than him what RB or WR is top 10 on either team? Pats QB and SEA Def is what got them to the big stage.

That and coaching, can't forget coaching. I think we have the coaches, the QB, and the line. We need the defense now.

The Pats proved that you don't need first round WR's to get to the Super Bowl. But they have coaching, QB and a defense and a good enough WR corp, o-line and RB to move the chains.

Totally agree. Whatever happens will have its pluses and minuses. Some of us will probably like it and some won't. But, hopefully last year taught us that we can't judge it solely on our gut reaction before they play the games. Doesn't mean we can't complain or reojoice...just that we can't act as if it is set in stone. Last year had many bailing on the season before preseason started and the team proved to have a real good offseason. I think thy deserve the benefit of the doubt at least to some degree.

I don't see that one. The Colts are built around Luck. Murray would be a huge signing for them from a talent perspective, but why spend that money on a RB when you have Luck? I see need for a RB in Indy, but just don't see that as a smart use of cap $'s for them with how the team is built. I think Atl is the favorite if not Dallas. They seem to change their philosphy every year. I see them looking back on their dreadful running game and thinking...OK, let's try this. They also freed up cap space an cut their last mistake at RB. I also think the popular AZ and TB are in play. AZ needs to clear cap space and they do have Ellington who isn't a work horse, but has talent and big play ability. Not sue he would be a smart move for them. I think TB would be the wisest team if someone is going to throw big $'s at him. They either won't have much of a QB, or will have a rookie QB. Murray would be a smart move for them IMO and would fit with what their HC would like to do. Buffalo is very similar to TB with regards to need and style of offense, but they may have too much $'s in their defense to get him. Also, look at the Raiders because, well, they are the Raiders. I don't know Gerhart's contract, but if he is cuttable I think Jax too jumps out as a team with a need, cap room and the ability to make him the focal point of their Offense.

Definitely does. Not trying to belittle his amazing saeason. Just meant more that he has been good since day 1 when healthy and given the opportunity. That is the reason I would resign him if his demands are at least close to reasonable.

The Pats and Packers both operate in a similar manner.

I agree. In the unlikely event (IMO) that we end up with AP, I would expect it to follow his release.

I'm hoping our line is what will causes a problem for Murray to sign with another team.
They know who Murray was with our line, but who will Murray be with their line.

Any GM is going to be asking himself that question before he cuts a check

Read an article recently that implied the RB position has become a "devalued" position because many of the teams feel that the position can easily be filled ...

not sure I totally agree, but a good offensive line can make a RB look really good ...

Funny how people just look for reasons to justify, or not justify, something, or someone, they really like. There is a very good chance that Murray is history once he hits the open market. Just too many teams out there looking for a solid RB to get them closer to the SB, and will not over-use him like the Cowboys did this last past season. I think this team has low-balled Murray for a reason, and is obviously willing to let him go. All the hype and press this team's OL got over the season, will not be a serious road block for some teams that want to sign Murray...it will be how teams value the RB position in today's NFL, and what this team's real motives are in regards to where they really want to go. You can't just simply over-look past team history, or NFL history in general, of handing out large contracts to RBs just coming off workhorse seasons.
