I disagree. The price tag on Osa is a shit sandwich. But that's 100% on Jerry and Stephen. They could have locked Osa up for $12-13M per last year but they are football retarded. But it's the same as the argument I made.about not wanting to resign Dak for $60M....the caveat is, I would have drafted someone along the way. You can't part ways with Dak when your options are Lance or Rush lol. And you can't lose Osa when you hire Eberflus and don't have another 3T on the whole roster. It's all on Jerry
I read somewhere. They are considering fran tagging osa for like 25 mil. One year no long term bucks.
I dont think Osa is worth putting a ton of money into. But for one year. I could take that chance & live with it. Still overpaying, but it would only be for one year.

Cowboys expected to place 2nd round tender on Turpin. Good chance he returns. Gholston appears to be gone. I see no changes happening with this FO. I see lipps flapping ,but no results. Franchising Osa would be very dumb.
Gholston is a great bottom of the rotation guy. A good run stopping DE that was played out of position for a couple of years. But not the kind of guy you spend money on. If no one wants him and we can get him back for cheap I'm all for him coming back.

Ive seen mocks that have Tek McMillan dropping down to Dallas. I would take that kid so fast it would make your head swim. Also Josh Simmons knee checked out. He is definitely in play for me
I don't see McMillan dropping out of the top 10. WR wouldn't be my favorite choice, but if he is there I'd definitely take him (depending of course on who else is there). I think he is going to be really really good and likely BPA and fills a need if he is there.

But what do you gain? Are we winning a SB in 2025? If not, why do it? Heck, are we even top 2 in our own division with him? Use those $'s to build towards a SB or pay down Dak's cap hit to use on future players when this team has turned the corner. If we sign Osa LT for like $18M per I'm all for it. This franchise tag stuff is just ridiculous for him. All players have a value. If you exceed that value to sign them you are making a mistake. If you grossly exceed it you are making a gross mistake.

Had to have him for this scheme. It's a nice start to the offseason. Now they at least have two starting DT's, though clearly(to me) an upgrade at NT is needed

Way better than slapping the 25 million franchise tag on him. I am ok with it. They still need to consider DT early in the draft. Mazi needs fewer snaps.
I read they are so unhappy with Guyton that LT is a priority. I hope not. That would be an absolute disaster. We need a WR, RB, LB, CB, RT, Dt. So many holes.

may be but Dallas media guys were talking last week how happy the staff was about Guyton being at the Star daily lifting. They were saying he looks like a different player and motivated for year two.

Now...we need a tackle but I'm not sure it's to replace Guyton.

Draft Simmons and move Guyton to RT while cutting Steele for cap relief??

Draft Membou for RT, cut Steele and assume Guyton has put the work in and will be fine at LT in year two??

Lamb inked a four-year, $136 million extension last summer. The $34 million AAV made him the second-highest paid receiver in football behind.

That deal goes into effect this season, which made Lamb an obvious restructure candidate. The move creates a whopping $20 million in cap space, which can be used to improve the roster this offseason.

LET'S GO

The Dak restructure is going to happen without question. From what I read, Osa's deal will only count $6M vs this years cap. Let's hope all this means that you were right and Jerry is going to be reactionary in FA

whispers are saying McClay has been given much more say.

two weeks ago McClay said he and Shanny are together on what they want to accomplish.
If that's the case, and that's a big IF....we are going to be a contender next year. If they use FA as it should be used and fill out a roster that can line up and play football before the draft and use their high draft picks to add premium talent, they will be a solid football team. I have a lot of confidence that the new coach will do well. It all comes down to whether Jerry can just step back and do his job, write checks and let the football people build the football team

Not a bad plan.
