I honestly dont see us trading him.
Jerry wouldnt like the backlash if he did that.
He is about his brand & letting Parsons go would create to much drama on how serious Jerry is.
Trading Micah would be a gamble. I think Jerry would love all the drama though. He craves attention. What if they traded him to the Titans for multiple 1st, a 2nd and a 4th?

I don't think the Titans would make that move. I do think a team that is close might

I just saw Washington got Deebo Samuel for a 5th. What did we give up for Jonathan Mingo again SMH. No one better than Jerry to lead us back...

Your thinking of the 2021 Samuel. He is now injury prone. No big deal.

while I feel your pain about the Mingo trade.
You got to remember. high priced guys (long in the tooth) are gonna make the draft pick less. Since the cost for the guy on the team is more.
He didnt get traded with the idea of playing out a contract but getting a new deal. I personally dont want Deebo on our team anymore than Mingo in all reality. if they didnt trade Deebo they would have cut him anyways. So they gained a 5th.
Washington lost a 5th & cap space for a year of two of worth.
We lost a 4th (rookie contract) basically no cap space for a dumbass trade.
We are not in a window to rent a player with huge cap implications.
I am not defending our trade because it was beyond silly, but if we traded a 5th for Deebo it would hurt us so much more.
the two trades are apples & oranges. Not we got a crap player vs a good player for the 4th & 5th.

You do realize the worst team in football was about to cut Mingo when we gave a 4th for a player that Carolina would have taken a 7th for? At least for their 5th rounder, Washington got a player that will without question help their team. To me, the contract number is irrelevant. Deebo is 29 years old, not 36. Washington has cap space, but that's irrelevant too, we could have the same $80 million in cap space if our owner gave a hoot about winning. We have given up TWO 4ths for Trey Lance and Jonathan Mingo. That is horrifically embarrassing my man

The Hell I am
You're missing the point. A 5th round pick is FAIR compensation for a 29 year old pro bowler who has had some injuries. The point is....a 4th round pick is not fair compensation for Mingo, it's fucking absurd

yes Mingo trade was a horrible trade. I dont dispute that. never have.

Washington feels they are in that window. So not a bad trade for them. Might get a year or two out of him.
Would be horrible for us. By the time we are relevant, he wouldnt be.
Age doesnt matter. His body is breaking down, cant stay healthy.

Oh yeah man, I'm not bitching because we didn't get Deebo. I'm bitching because we gave up a more valuable pick for a box of skittles

Thank Goodness we didn't trade for Deebo. He was horrible last year in a perfect spot to put up big numbers for a team that needed him after Aiyuk went down and is looking for a big deal before the season. No comparison to the Mingo disaster because Mingo is at least cheap so we can just cut him. With Deebo the trade compensation is due to the contract he wants.

You are missing the point. He has had alot of injuries and was going to get cut anyway. He was awful last year. No thanks. For you to say that Washington made this great trade compared to what Dallas did with Mingo is hyperbole. I am not happy with the Mingo trade, but Washington did not do any better.

Correct. I don't want Deebo. But if we are giving up a 4th round pick, we should get a heck of a lot more than Mingo back. Cleveland gave us a 5th and 6th for Amari Cooper SMH lol. It pisses me off because losing that 4th reslly screws up our draft

one year control for 18M costing a 5th to me is much worse that a 4th with two year control on a rookie contract.

this conversation should be on the general board where NFL fans trash anything Dallas.

What would a Garrett trade look like for the Cowboys? A 2nd this year and a 1st next year? Maybe add a 3rd this year or next? Let's say it is some type of package like that that doesn't include pick #12. And yes I know the Jones Boyz would NEVER do any of this.

Current cap space around $3M depending on whether you go by Spotrac or OTC.
Restructure $25M for CeeDee. Saves $20M this year. $23M in cap space
Sign Micah. Figure $10M cap hit this year. Saves $14M. $37M in cap space.
Sign Garrett. Figure $10M year 1 cap hit. Costs $10M. $27M in cap space.
Sign Osa. Figure $10M year 1 cap hit. Costs $10M. $17M in cap space.
Martin retires post 6/1. Neutral for this year.
Re-sign Kendricks. Figure around the same $3M as this year. $14M in cap space.
Cut Wilson. Saves $7.5M. $21.5M cap space.
Cut Hooker. Saves $6M. $27.5M in cap space.
Sign a starting caliber free agent safety. Figure around $7M. $20.5M.
Still have money to sign all of Rico, an OL if you want and Lewis and K and Turpin and draft class and some cheap vets and backup QBs. Whatever else you need you can restructure Dak just as much as needed to get through this year without making it harder to cut him in a couple of years due to dead money. He is here a minimum of 2 years so can tinker a little.
Draft one of the Michigan DTs or best DT on the board.

2026 Defense until Overshown back:
Garrett, Michigan DT, Osa, Kneeland/Sam Williams
Micah, Kendricks, Liufau
CB: Bland, Diggs Lewis, Butler
S: Talanoa Hufanga (or whomever you sign), Thomas/Bell/Mukuamu

The above is absolute fantasy of course and ignores any other low cost free agents or draft picks that may play a role as well. Eventually cutting Dak helps pay for all the cap hits of Micah and CeeDee and Garrett and Osa until the next QBs high dollar years start and also cutting Steele after next year unless he plays at a high level saves $17M.

edit - I did this quickly so if something doesn't make sense or a $ amount is off take that into account. That's also why I used the qualifier of restructuring as much of Dak's salary as needed if there is a gap in the numbers.

I think I am going to get pisst if these fools let Lewis sign elsewhere. They owe him an apology for wasting his talent early in his career. Everybody could tell he should of been on the field, except the Jones. Lewis balls out.

Apparently, JJ is about to make his next major blunder. Osa Odighizuwa is a FA and JJ is about to franchise him at 21.5M for 2025. we are only just under the cap by approximately 1.8M so we are going to have to restructure Prescott and Lamb to get under enough to do that and maybe re-sign some of our other FA's and the draft class. and we probably lose Parsons who wants to re-sign and has offered to restructure 2025 too but only if the Cowboys do something to improve the team.
