I keep asking about us trading Cousins now compared to trading him during the off season. With A LOT of qb's going out to injuries this year wouldn't we get more for him now then wait till after the season? Yes he is a nice security blanket for RG3 but I rather have RG3, a draft pick and Rex as the backup in case of emergency then RG3, no pick, and cousins on the bench waiting. Several teams need a qb Browns, Titans, Raiders, Jax, Vikings, Cardinals, Tampa Bay, Jets, and maybe Buffalo. So should or shouldn't we trade him now?

With RG3's health still in question, Cousins is worth more to us than any value we would get in trade. IF RG3 stays healthy and returns to form by the end of the year, look to trade him in the offseason.

Its hard to say. Depends on the supply and demand. A team that I think will be interested is Houston. Shaub looks to be done, or close to it. Kirk could interest them. In any event, I don't see anything more than a 2nd and maybe a 3rd or 4th. No way we get a first unless he gets significant playing time this year and does well. Of course if that happens, that means RG3 has been injured again so we will most likely have to keep him.

Trade Cousins if we are talking a first rounder.

Trade Cousins if we are talking a second rounder with provisions to get a first rounder if he performs.

Do no trade Cousins if there is no hope for a first rounder.

During the season? I agree with you about the trade picks.

I say if we could get really good value right now (say a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th) then do it now while teams have a glaring need and may reach a little bit. If you wait until the end of the season, those said teams might be just as content spending a 1st or 2nd rounder on a combine warrior who they feel has much more upside. I still don't feel we get a 1st rounder for Cousins under almost any circumstance. That does not include him coming in for an injured Griffin soon and putting the team on his back and taking us to the playoffs. Hope I am wrong there.

Matt Flynn has not helped Cousins trade value, that's for sure.

No it sure doesn't. Throw Cassell in that mix as well as Kolb. I can't remember the details of any of these transactions, but none of them worked out the teams who picked them up.

Hell, add in Carson Palmer who is a proven player/starter but still was a major reach for 2 high picks.

While there are players like Kolb and Cassell, there are also players like Brees and Vick (to an extent).

Cousins value is dropping with each game not played. By year's end "if" we have not traded him, I can't see anymore than a 3rd round pick and that's a reach simply based on the fact that we used a 4th to grab him. Teams will use that rebuttal when dealing with the skins. His value is likely as high now as it's going to get.

Good. If the worst that occurs in this situation is that Cousins remains on this team a few more years - no problem. No reason to make some type of panic induced trade right now. It is not as if an extra pick would put the Redskins over the top & you never really know what he can command at a later date.

I've changed my mind about Cousins. We can't afford the luxury of having him as a backup. We need other talent on this team, we are just too weak at some positions to compete. We need at least 3 starting caliber OL (G, C, RT). We need a premier ILB to replace Fletcher, he is done. We need another dependable WR. We need S and CB.

In short, we have to trade him. If we can get a 2nd, that will go a long way toward filling one of these holes. While we will have money to spend on FAs next year, we can't buy our way out of this problem, we have to address some of these issues through the draft.
