Could 49ers-Skins do Cousins deal at Combine?

I won't dispute that. Since the real issue is about having to pay too much for Cousins, a stopgap QB wouldn't make sense. They would put that money in the defensive line, and free safety. They would also let both Garcon and Jackson walk and draft another WR at #17. I finally get it Shark.
My SMGM Conspiracy theory #1 -- But isn't this what he wants anyway, new coach, new QB?
not saying it's going to work, but if RG3 doesn't get hurt - Scott probably gets to reset the team.
Is it possible Kirk unwittingly ruined that?

Very possible. The sad part is, I dont think we get to keep the #17 in a deal with the Niners. I think they will want Kirk AND that #17 for the #2.

right and throw in the 2017 3rd. Well it won't be the first time I thought about watching all games from HOME as a free agent and NOT a fan.

A cold one with Scotty would be NICE right about now

Interesting tke on this over at NFL.com

QB carousel: Kirk Cousins, Tony Romo, Jimmy G to ...

» Kirk Cousins to the 49ers: A surefire candidate to be tagged for the second straight year -- at the price of $23.94 million -- Cousins is already the subject of next-offseason whispers, with the 49ers and even the Rams being bandied about as landing spots for 2018.

Or maybe much sooner.

If the Redskins were head over heels for Cousins, they wouldn't be in this position. Neither would Cousins, who reportedly "doesn't want to be" with the team anymore after endless haggling over his contract. NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah believes there's a "greater than 50 percent chance" that the 28-year-old quarterback won't be on Washington's roster next season, saying he "would not be shocked at all if we saw a Kirk Cousins-to-San Francisco trade go down." Once they tag him, the Redskins are free to work out a deal with the Niners -- perhaps as soon as next week's NFL Scouting Combine. Negotiations won't be simple, but one way or another, I have Cousins booked for a new start in Northern California.

What about Washington?

» Redskins rebuild quarterback room from scratch: With Cousins out the door, Washington's coaching staff will be forced to start over under center. Outside of making a play for Romo -- which would serve as a fascinating landing spot if he's released -- look for coach Jay Gruden to find a veteran he trusts to pair with a rookie. Assuming they nab San Francisco's No. 2 pick in the draft in a Cousins swap, the Redskins could recoup additional picks by trading down and grabbing a prospect like Trubisky or Watson -- or draft guru Mike Mayock's top passer, DeShone Kizer out of Notre Dame. Redskins fans might hate this idea, but it gives you four years of NO CONTRACT GOSSIP AT QUARTERBACK.

Bend over boys.... this is about to go all Ron Jeremy style on us.

Watson has the current buzz factor that our owner would want.

Hey, maybe it won't matter who's behind center after all Gruden, with a lot of help from at least one brilliant young offensive mind is now on record for taking two slugs and converting them into serviceable guys. Let's see what he can do without a Shanahan or McVay type on board.

Sounds alot like "She cute for a fat chick".

LOL, from your reading of it to the junk heap of misunderstanding, I suppose one can get there. BTW: the former pimp in me says, fat chicks need love too!:D

So maybe you can clear it up. But taken literally seems like your take is Gruden with the help of some brilliant offensive minds, was able to make two bad QBs serviceable. So lets see if he can do better with just about any one else under center and without the help of those other brilliant offensive minds.

If those are complements, I would love to see an actual insult. :thumb:

I wouldn't go that far. KC had a lot of weapons to make him look like a star. You cant discount what Reed, Jackson, And Garcon have done for this team. Gruden even said that KC has to work on his reads better. So I wouldn't call him the messiah.

Reed, Jackson and Garcon were here in 2015 as well and we went 5-11. The biggest difference by far between 5-11 and division champ was the play of the QB, it sure wasn't the defense or the running game.

KC is being greedy in this situation with nothing to show for it. I don't like it at all. that is my point.

Exactly which players have not been "greedy"? That's ignorant fan speak. Virtually every professional athlete you have ever rooted for is maximizing his earning in a short window of opportunity and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that at all.

Has anyone really considered that behind closed doors KC and with his agent, he has pretty well made up his mind that he doesn't want to be in Washington long term?? That barring a ridiculous contract, that he is willing to negotiate himself into the tag so that he can set the stage to be on the market at the end of this season?? Does the FO know this and are willing to cut their losses and get what they can for him, WHILE they can get something? The more time goes on, the more this looks to be the case.

That being said, Jeremiah's swap and trade seems like a ridiculously bad deal for Washington. He is worth #2 alone, not worth trading to move up 15 picks.

This is what I think has happened with KC. He has a desire to go play back in California, where his home is. And he has the long-term power to decide his ultimate destination. With the Skins not offering him a mind blowing contract, he didn't feel that loyal to the Skins and wants to see what other options are available. If the Skins tag him, it is out of his control. So he is just waiting to see what the Skins would offer and whether they would tag him.

This is certainly possible, but the reality is that none of us really know what either is thinking at this time. Some of us like to think that we know, but most of this is based on media speculation that for the most part has no basis.

I don't agree with your with your take that the scenario you suggest is more likely as time goes on. I never thought that this would be settled by March 1 & didn't really see a reason for either side to be highly motivated to agree to terms in this time. I still believe it is highly possible that the Redskins tag Cousins & work out a long term deal in subsequent months. I am not worried at the current time.

Kirk Cousins - Wikipedia

Am I missing something? Cousins is from Illinois & attended HS & college in Michigan. To the best of my knowledge he currently lives in VA (& his wife is from GA). Where is the California connection?

Okay, I guess I was mistaken. For some reason I was thinking he played at UCLA...

Thanks for correcting me.
