I agree that it's all BS. People are taking advantage of it being a high profile player and running with anything that they can. And on the spinal cord injury: I'm fairly educated on the possibilities, and unless he had a fracture, which would cause a much bigger issue (and he wouldn't be on the line between coming back or not this season), there wouldn't be something career threatening.

I really think when Crosby gets back, he's going to tear a new ass in the scoring department.

Who or where did he hear this from?

I really have no idea. I honestly do not talk much with this brother. This morning I got an email, out of the blue, that said... 'I heard that Sid suffered a career ending spinal cord injury. An announcement will be made in the coming weeks'. I haven't been able to circle back with him. I don't put much into it, but it's just odd coming from this brother. So I wanted to check on here if anyone heard anything about this.

I feel like, if they knew it were career ending, they wouldn't be twiddling their thumbs right now. The rumors out there are ridiculous.

Crosby held a presser and said that he's getting better, but it's just a slow process. Can't pinpoint a return time, but hopes and expects to play this season.

11:52 AM:
Sidney Crosby spoke with the media in the locker room moments ago. Here is the takeaway from what the captain had to say:

He left town to get away from hockey and the everyday questions about his health. and see his parents [and also to go Scuba diving, attend his first rave, and many other things one does while on vacation].
He's getting better, but it's just slow. Everything is improving, but at a slow rate.
There is no timetable on a return. "It's impossible to gage or put a number."
He's expecting to play this year, but realizes there's no way to be sure

PITTSBURGH -- Sidney Crosby said it's "scary" being out with a concussion and not knowing when he can return to the ice, but the Pittsburgh Penguins' star is confident he will return this season.

Crosby, speaking Thursday for the first time since Jan. 25, has returned to Pittsburgh after spending time in a warm-weather location with his parents -- mostly just to get away from hockey and take some needed rest.

There is no timetable for his return, either to practice or game action, but Crosby said he is progressing. He said there have been "a thousand" different scenarios offered in the media as to what exactly is wrong with him and how long he will be out, but even he doesn't know when he will be ready to resume hockey-related activities.

Crosby was the NHL's leading scorer before being sidelined following a Jan. 5 game against Tampa Bay in which defenseman Victor Hedman drove him into the boards. Crosby also sustained a hard hit from Washington's David Steckel during the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1.

Despite not playing for more than five weeks, Crosby remains second in the League with 32 goals and fourth with 66 points.
