Who or where did he hear this from?
I really have no idea. I honestly do not talk much with this brother. This morning I got an email, out of the blue, that said... 'I heard that Sid suffered a career ending spinal cord injury. An announcement will be made in the coming weeks'. I haven't been able to circle back with him. I don't put much into it, but it's just odd coming from this brother. So I wanted to check on here if anyone heard anything about this.
PITTSBURGH -- Sidney Crosby said it's "scary" being out with a concussion and not knowing when he can return to the ice, but the Pittsburgh Penguins' star is confident he will return this season.
Crosby, speaking Thursday for the first time since Jan. 25, has returned to Pittsburgh after spending time in a warm-weather location with his parents -- mostly just to get away from hockey and take some needed rest.
There is no timetable for his return, either to practice or game action, but Crosby said he is progressing. He said there have been "a thousand" different scenarios offered in the media as to what exactly is wrong with him and how long he will be out, but even he doesn't know when he will be ready to resume hockey-related activities.
Crosby was the NHL's leading scorer before being sidelined following a Jan. 5 game against Tampa Bay in which defenseman Victor Hedman drove him into the boards. Crosby also sustained a hard hit from Washington's David Steckel during the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1.
Despite not playing for more than five weeks, Crosby remains second in the League with 32 goals and fourth with 66 points.
