Shutting him down for the season is probably the right call for him at this point. Concussions are not to be taken lightly and obviously, Crosby's is very serious. I know a girl who got a pretty bad concussion when she played soccer in high school and to this day, she still has side effects from it.

Can't help but think about Justin Morneau is this case. Took a seemingly light bump to the head in that game and was out for the year. The Crosby hits were much harder.

A story out of Canada today suggests that Penguins center Sidney Crosby, who has not played since Jan. 5 because of a concussion, might not play again this season.

Awfully interesting, especially to Penguins fans.

Not even a little bit accurate, however.

While the Penguins don't know when Crosby will be able to return, general manager Ray Shero said in a text message that there is "no truth whatsoever" to the idea that Crosby's season is over.

From all indications, the report in question is based on a mispresentation of a report that appeared in another media outlet.

Crosby is spending time with family members in an indisclosed, but warm, climate (yes, that means he's not in Nova Scotia) and coach Dan Bylsma said this afternoon there is no set time for him to return to Pittsburgh.

But while most indications are that it will be weeks before Crosby gets medical clearance to take part in games, there are none that say he won't be allowed to do it again until autumn.

Crosby began light workouts a while ago, but does not have approval to engage in strenuous activity, including practices.
