If the Oilers do get him do you think he'll find a way to suck even given his tremendous talent?
It's funny 'cause it's true. The thing is, even if he plays 22-23 minutes a night, that still leaves 37-38 minutes where the Oilers are dreadful
What are the chances Bettman rigs the lottery to give McDavid to Arizona?
Maloney is El Alamein status with his tank game. I think the last team the Yotes beat was the Leafs.Geez, I just took a glance and saw that Arizona has lost 9 in a row - Still one point up on Edmonton and four points up in Buffalo. Thing is, if you finish 30th, the furthest you can fall is one spot to 29th.
Crosby had 102 points in his first season. It's becoming quite clear that's the stratosphere McD's in.Anthony Mantha had 57G, 63A in 57 games last year in the QMJHL. This year in the AHL he's got 11G, 12A in 45 games.
Jonathan Drouin was 3rd in scoring in the QMJHL last year after being drafted 3rd overall by the Lightning in 2013. Yzerman wisely sent him back to the QMJHL for another year of seasoning in 2014 but brought him straight up to the Lightning this year, bypassing the AHL. He's got two goals in 53 games for Tampa.
As good as McDavid has been against kids, it's a different game against men and whoever drafts him better be wary of pushing him to the big stage too soon.

Yup, I would say that McDavid has certainly distanced himself from Jack Eichel, part of it is all the attention that has been paid to him especially here in Canada, but you can't ignore the numbers he is putting up (along with all the highlight reel goals he has produced).
To be fair to scouts and observers, in the past decade the number of "can't miss" guys who went at the top of the draft who missed is very, very small. I'd say it starts and ends with Erik Johnson. That's the stratosphere everyone perceives he's in, but we can't be sure until he gets there. I'm not saying he can't step in and play in the NHL right away, I'm saying it's dangerous to his development to expect him to be the next Crosby.
You're probably right, as far as the draft goes. One question to ponder though: is either player experiencing a greater benefit to his game from his current level of competition?

Well, it certainly can't be hurting McDavid's confidence, that's for sure. Also, I think it's pretty clear that there's no point sending him back to junior. I can't really say too much about Eichel as I haven't seen him as much as McDavid.
