I sensed this one coming. McManus' kickoffs were much better, he's clearly got the stronger leg, and the way his kicks were going right down the middle it appears he's got his accuracy issues worked out.

A bit surprised on this one. I thought McManus would win the competition but there are plenty of guys on the team that we know for sure won't make the team. Barth has shown to be a reliable leg and I thought should have at least made it to the 75 cut down time to keep the pressure on McManus.

Yeah I fill bad for mostly because last yr he came on and saved our butt in the fg dept anyway. I agree with Cd though that they could of cut somebody else. I do see the point of confidence builder for McManus too.Now he knows he's the guy. I have faith. If not, Denver might lead league in 2pts and 4 and short attempts this yr.

That is true if they know they have made up their minds then letting the veteran who stands a chance to catch on with another team makes a lot of sense. It is a great showing of respect and why you see some teams when the first cuts happen that you see a veteran maybe get cut earlier than people expected.

Here is to McMiss improving and McMaking field goals this year.

Nice to see Barth get a shot again with Tampa Bay... He did well for us last year when we counted on him... Wish him best of luck. You knew he wasn't long term, but his ability to come in late last year and do well for us gave him another opportunity with another team this year.

Anybody else read the article on what McManus has changed this year over at Milehighreport? Very good read if you want to see why McManus is showing so much more promise at accuracy this year. He essentially changed up his steps when kicking a field goal and went with a style that leads to better accuracy. It can take a little power off but hey if he is making them from 70 yards I don't think he needs a ton more power.

Last year my biggest beef was not giving McMiss the opportunity.. (I was also a big Prater fan, so hated to see us release him although understood) just wish when we released him we had a more proven kicker givein our situation in a SB contention year...

But my biggest beef was how many chances we gave McMiss... I was beginning to wonder what the guy was doing to keep his job...

The team is obviously very high on him. We kept him around after his initial release and we didn't give up on him after a few awful games. I trust the organization that McMiss has improved and we can gain confidence in him as the season goes on.

I just hope we don't go through the same thing as we did last year if he starts to struggle where we give him chance after chance after chance.

Field goal kicking is not something I am real patient with.
