I didn't get to see the game but the highlights were great. His highstepping into the endzone was perfect and the conversation between Deion and Devin after the game was touching. The NFL definitely could use a good story like that right about now.

Sounds like things weren't very cool in Chicago for him, by the way. He's praising the Falcons quite a bit and seems very happy there.

I still have no idea why Tampa kicked to him but hats off to Hester for breaking the record.

I remember watching his college return highlights and said this dude is unbelievable. He sure lived up to the hype at the next level. Congrats to that man.

Yeah, I've seen some really good returners recently in Seattle, Leon Washington and Percy Harvin, both of whom could break 100+ yards at any time but Hester has taken it to another level throughout his career. He had that 2 or 3 year stretch where you could say "Hey, I bet he returns this for a TD" and he would. Pretty incredible to have that vision and ability to instantly hit those holes.

Change of scenery was a big help for him...When he came to ATL for his FA visit, the staff basically said to him...we're looking for another playmaker to offset the loss of Tony G...are you just a special teams guy?

He said he was a complete WR, but never was viewed as such in CHI, and felt like they pigeoned holed him into the return role.

On the game...The Falcons were good obviously, but the Bucs helped them way to much and it was out of hand early...with Roddy out, Ryan targeted Hester probably more than normal, and he delivered...the end around for 6...was just perfect timing...the Bucs were pursuing hard and the backside contain guy bit on the run fake, got caught inside...on that play...Matthews showed why he can be an elite OT...totally glued to his man 7 or 8 yds downfield.

You would think if there's 1 coach out there that would know better than to kick the ball to Devin Hester, it would be Lovie Smith. Lovie and Leslie and there emotionless demeanor are perfect for eachother. I feel for Bucs fans.

Yeah, but more than that...Hester is making them look stupid for not incorporating him into the OFC as a WR.

No doubt!

Awesome game by Hester. In addition to setting the record for punt return TDs and scoring another TD on an end around, he made a really nice tackle on which he stripped the ball from a TB defender following an INT.

Yeah I hear that. Chicago never seemed to give Hester a fair shake at WR. Maybe the change of scenery has helped him...or maybe playing with Matt Ryan has made the difference. As a Vikings fan, I'm totally OK with Hester being in ATL.

cutler needs huge receivers because he isn't accurate enough.

I'm always prepared to bash Cutler, but he has had some success with smaller WRs (e.g., Eddie Royal and Johnny Knox).

He still has it. I could have done without the mutual strokefest between him and Sanders post game, tbh.

Congrats to Hester. I'd still take Sanders over Hester due to his cover skills and superb tackling.

LOL Pretty sure that the tackle Hester made last night is far superior to any of Neon's patented dodge jobs!

For sure a bromance. He was a mentor to him and then broke his record. Still better to see a feel good story than a 5th or 6th story of abuse.

That actually should be run on a loop.

There were 10 million reasons he didnt get his chance at WR. That was the kicker he had if he became a top 4 receiver. The contract was 4/10 for top receiver, 4/30 to "justify" paying him as a returner.

When trestman came in it could have been special, but he took Devin completely out of the offense, but Jay didnt like him and never threw him the ball, so Hesters cutler bashing was valid too. Hester was always blamed for running the wrong route. All you have to do is throw the ball and let hester chase it.

Like I said in the bears section, Hester cant run if he is leaping to catch the ball, defense is running, he isnt. You get a QB that can hit hester in stride and forget about it.

A very, very exciting player for years in this league and a well-deserved record. I think that particular record means much more to him than it did to the previous record holder.

If he was a baseball player, people would be convinced he was on steroids. Its really...odd...to see Hester relevant and actually quite good again. Dante Hall fell off hard.

Definitely the best return guy ever. Not a hall of famer
