On Saturday I began having a BOOTING problem with my computer. The computer screen came up telling me to hit the Delete button for the setup menu. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do? I've hit F10 to save the current stuff a few times & then the ESCAPE key & I can get to my normal screen, but if I turn it off for awhile & turn it on again it go I have to set it up all over again.

Don't hit delete or f10 when booting. That's only if you want to change MB, boot drive stuff

Setup menu..

Why do you need to go into the setup menu?

Does this computer have an OS installed?

It told me to hit delete to get to the set up menu. It might have an OS installed I don't know. It's a bit old. We're talking about a 2002 Dell here.

I've done a quiet boot & the CPU responded. I need to get off for a bit to find out if it worked. Thanks.

I've got a bunch of CD's, but I don't know what to put in.

Application CD DELL Tools CD for reinstalling Dell Installed software
Application CD for Roxio Creator 5.1

Drivers & Utilities CD for reinstalling Device Drivers & Using Diagnostics, Utilities & Online documentation

Drivers & Utilities CD for reinstalling V.92 (capable) 56k Telephony Data/fax Voice modem software.

And of course I have the Microsoft Windows XP Reninstallation CD.

As a IT professional.

I suspect you have a boot virus. **** hurts...lol

I would use your Dell install disk and do a complete wipe. The tricky part is to make sure you have the drivers get u back online.

"Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"

"Is the system plugged in?"

"If you could reboot for me now, that would ne great."

"I'll transfer you now. Thank you for calling Dell tech support. Praise be to Buddah."

Drivers for 2002 hardware may be a tad hard to find.:-)

Maybe it's time to replace that Commodore64 you've been using? :noidea:
