i didnt realize how expensive the sunday ticket was... never had it and didnt even know what it was...
is it really worth it??
is it really worth it??
My curiosity stops at price tag. If ALL the rumors are to be believed- YouTube is buying it for at least 1 billion more than Direct was paying, and if Direct was losing money on the deal charging somewhere in the beighborhood of 300 a year for it.. what are they gonna charge??
From what I can find, DirectTV had roughly 13.5 million subscribers, and around 1.5 million of them purchased the Sunday ticket.
Google claims YoutubeTV has around 5 million subscribers, just over a third of what DTV has.
So how does the math work out where they turn a profit? Do they increase the price, and hope all 1.5 of the current DTV Sunday ticket subscribers jump ship, plus bank on some of their own signing up?
Or would lowering it, significantly, potentially greatly increasing the number of potential Sunday ticket subscribers (and thus increasing youtubeTV subscribers, greatly) be a feasible way to go?
As a decade long Sunday Ticket subscriber, who only recently got fed up with DTV and their ridiculous rates and cut ties (going to YouTubeTV in fact), I'm very curious how they'll handle it, financially.
And if it's reasonable, then I'll start wondering about how they'll roll it out and what features it has.
When it was 200, and the standard monthly subscription was 75 or less, and DTV threw in 3-6 months of their best premiums- HBO, Starz, Showtime..etc..for free to purchase it, yes. Especially if you live in Colorado and loathe the Broncosi didnt realize how expensive the sunday ticket was... never had it and didnt even know what it was...

As per that report I quoted, it's not gonna be less, and if I'm representative of a 'common man/typical NFL fan'...yep they'll be pricing out the common man cuz 300 is too much for my blood, and it'll likely be moreOr I'm way off base and they price the common man out of the Sunday Ticket

I assume you're meaning, was there any other content exclusive to Sunday Ticket subscribers?is there any benefit in owning sunday ticket outside of the 18 week season??

Outside of the features available, like player tracker, on GameDay Sundays, no.
Preseason isn't in it, playoffs aren't in it, no additional draft coverage or anything like that..hell, Monday night, Sunday night and Thursday night wasn't even in it

This is a great dialogue. Just reinforcing my determination to get an antenna. Even if an antenna costs $300, i will be saving money when you consider monthly streaming, app or Sunday ticket prices, not to mention just paying for a base "provider"
You have no control over what game your watching during redzone, and if you're Luke me, you want to see the entire drive, what play got called in situations, x, y and z, who got the ball then, why didn't it work, why did it, ..etc..red zone mostly just goes to whatever game has a red zone situation, sits there for a few plays, and moves on..there's no context. You're basically paying 11 bucks a month for a less exciting highlight real then you'd get during nbc's gamenightthen i really dont get it?? outside of being an out of market fan of a team, isnt the redzone network simply a better more reasonably priced option??
redzone is in the sports plus package which costs you 10.99 per month...
There are a lot of things you miss from a fantasy perspective just watching Red Zone. That's why I watch all the games at once. There are a lot of people that don't like it because it's just too much going on at once, but I love it.then i really dont get it?? outside of being an out of market fan of a team, isnt the redzone network simply a better more reasonably priced option??

True, there is no need, but then again, there never has been. Direct could've sold it stand alone. One time instalation fee and done..but they didn'ti can almost guarantee you wont have to get the base provider for this... there is no need for that...

In that previously mentioned report from Adam Kaplan, it's reported that there are escalators in the contract, tied to the amount of new YoutubeTV subscribers. So if I'm the NFL, there's NO WAY that I don't put a clause in the contract that says every Sunday Ticket subscription requires a base service agreement.
I would almost guarantee the exact opposite, just good business on the NFL's side
Comes down to the details in the contract, but that's certainly what I'd put in there if I were Goodelli know it is different but there are other plans including the NBA full pass, that doesnt require a Youtube tv base subscription...
