Seattle is inline for a handful of comp picks this season.

Remember these are projections

Tate could net them a 4th round ( should be a 3rd )
Browner could net them a 5th
Breno Giacomini could net them another 5th
McDonald could net them a 6th

SO you can add most likely 4 more mid round picks to the Hawks 8 picks all ready. Thank you Tate, Browner and Giacomini for having such good seasons.

What needed to happen for Tates pick to be a 3rd? I was under the impression it was a 5th at best.

Tate is on the cusp of either a 3rd or a 4th but i do believe they tie some of the performance into it.

Wow, those are some serious additional picks. This draft could help set us up for another 3 or 4 years.

Comp picks are big, especially the way Pete and John seem to find gems later in the draft... Those are huge

Can someone explain the Kearse situation please? We get something like a 2nd round pick if we let him go and he signs elsewhere? If this is true, why havn't they sent him packing already?

Investigate what a second round tender offer is and I think you will have your answer.

Jermaine Kearse is a restricted free agent, so Seattle has the choice of giving him a qualifying offer or not. If they don't offer him a qualifying offer, he becomes a free agent. If they do give him an offer, they can choose one of four levels to offer him. There are:

1) $1.323 million/1 year contract with Right of first refusal. What this means is that if no one signs Kearse to another contract, Seattle gets him for $1.323 million, but if he is signed, then Seattle has the chance to match the deal, but that's it.

2) $1.431 million/ 1 year contract with Right of first refusal and draft selection at Player's draft location. Again, Seattle can match any offer, or they could let him sign and receive that team's draft pick for the round the player was selected. Since Kearse was a UDFA, they would get nothing, so this option is not going to happen.

3) $2.187 million/ 1 year contract with Right of first refusal and second round draft pick. So, the Hawks could match or receive the second round selection of the team that signs him. This is speculated as to the route Seattle will take.

4) $3.113 million 1 year contract with Right of first refusal and first round draft pick.
Exactly like the others, but it's a first round pick that will be exchanged. Not only would a team need to want Kearse, but would need to pay him (most likely) upwards of $3 million a year and be willing to give up a 1st rounder for him. Unlikely.

I'm not sure when the Seahawks have to have given Kearse a qualifying offer, I believe by the start of free agency. He would then have until April 19th to find another offer, or he is retained under the salary of his offer sheet. I have not seen anything about Seattle actually having extended a qualifying offer to Kearse, but I could have missed it if they did.

We also get the Irvin comp which looks like it might be a 4th.

Seahawks tender Jermaine Kearse a second round qualifying offer - he'll make $2.356 million in 2015 unless someone else signs him to a contract - then the Hawks would get a second round pick for him.

I don't think anyone will give up a second for JK.
Also, with Marshall being traded to the Jets, does that make Percy expendable dropping us to a 6th rounder for him?

Kearse is solid for $2M. I like Kearse. He had a rough Superbowl but sometimes you just have a bad game.

I want Lockette gone. That guy racks up more penalty than receiving yards.

It's easy to bang on Lockette after how the SB ended, but he's a valuable ST guy. He doesn't make much impact as a WR, but I'm sure his salary is less than 1/53 of the cap. You need guys like him. It won't kill us if he's gone, but he's willing to do the dirty work and he does it for small potatoes.

Huh? I wasn't even talking about Lockette in terms of the SBOWL. The guy is useless and a liability in all games. Great special teams? Okay, but special teams was easily the worst part about this team last year.

Can Lockette, get Norwood more reps, hopefully Richardson recovers, hopefully we land Wayne/A. Johnson for cheap, and hopefully Seattle doesn't draft Sammie "where am I at" Coates (athletic freak granted) who can't run routes and drops balls.

I never used the word great, and I think saying he's useless in all games is way over the top to the point of being irrational. Even if special teams wasn't good, it doesn't mean none of the guys were quality STers. C'mon man, be reasonable.

Oh I'm reasonable. That dude is a bum. Never makes a clutch catch, gets little separation, causes penalties. I hate that guy.
