Taylor Martinez runs a 4.3 also.......

Hopefully Stewart can make cuts like DAT, or else he's just another kid who can run really fast.

you guys are seriously targeting speed.

How is that Stewart kid only a 2 star? Is he flying under the radar in Texas?

VERY surprised he didn't come to Oregon as I see we are targeting him. but reading his bio it sounds exactly like a DAT type player.

He appears to make good cuts on film.

Scout is critical that he can't break tackles. mmmkrayyy.

I saw him breaking many open-field arm tackles on film. Just because he's not a 'between the tackles guy' doesn't mean he can't break tackles. :L

I hope he remains onboard and can catch punts and KO's. If so he can possibly contribute early.

He committed without seeing the campus. Always risky. Just need to get him here for his official and then he'll be a rock solid commit.

 That Larenzo Stewart kid runs a 4.36....

He might be the next DAT...Hopefully Oregon poaches him before signing day.

2nd fastest 40 time in the state.
1 kid ran a 4.33 in like 2011.

Straight line speed is great and all, but is he football fast? Big difference. Hard to really tell on his tape.

RA said he made nice cuts in his highlights. I agree, but nothing that really blew me away.

When you've got great speed, even the smallest changes in direction get amplified. Looks like he has at least that.

'Nother question is can he hang on to the ball when he's getting smacked by OLB's and safeties?

I mean we've had physical freaks like him come through...

Marcus Mendoza rode the bench @ RB his whole career under Bo. Look at his Pro Day numbers:

5'9" 187 lbs

40 yd dash: 4.40
225 lbs BP reps: 20
Vertical Jump: 45 1/2
Broad Jump: 11'01"
20 yd shuttle: 4.05

And that was just his pro-day. Mendoza has been clocked electronically at 4.35 before.

This would be the biggest question, with his size. DAT had issues with that very early on.

Florida and Texas have also given him looks, but have yet to offer.

It'll be very interesting to see if we can hold on to this kid.

Sometimes Texas kids will use comitting to Nebraska as a stepping stone to get the closer-to-home offer they truly want.

For example we've had a lot of Louisiana kids commit and then once LSU notices we've got one of their top in state athletes, they realize they can't afford to miss on him.

Same goes for Texas kids. Most of 'em wanna play for UT. Bad. We RARELY lose a commit to anyone but UT as far as Texas schools go.

I've seen us lose texas native Nebraska commits to Oklahoma as well.

Seems like every kid we have offered who's been "under the radar" suddenly gets inundated with calls from big time schools as soon as he commits to Nebraska.

Shows that our scouting and talent evaluation has improved drastically.

It took Bo a while because he's a first time head coach, but this is year 6. He's seen what does and doesn't work in terms of recruits. He and his staff seem to know exactly what type of player they want right now. Whether that's good or bad is yet to be seen.

It's funny because this isn't the first time Bo has gone after speed over size.

Our worst recruiting class by far was the 2008 one. It was also by far the one with the best 40 times.

Currently, our commits carry about the same acclaim as the ones in the 2008 class.

Whole lotta "high 3 star" kids.

2008 class per rivals: Rank: #30, Commits: 28, Star avg: 2.96, 5 star commits: 1, 4 star commits: 2, 3 star commits:20

2014 class per rivals: Rank: #37, Commits: 11, Star avg: 2.82, 4 stars:1, 3 stars:7

LOTS OF WORK TO DO.

Also pleeeenty of time. Need to have a big year and get to a BCS bowl. Then we'll get those 4 and 5 star guys who are deciding between Nebraska and another big time program on national signing day.

Bo HAS to show recruits that Nebraska is a team on the rise.

Kids don't want to play for a program treading water. Or worse: A sinking ship.

I'll be honest.......I doubt we hang on to him.

He is a 2-star on Rivals right now, and Nebraska is by far and away his best offer...........and he accepted that offer without even visiting.

Rivals also has him rated at 5.4 right now..........he'll be 5.6 and a 3-star before long and he'll get offers from SEC schools, some Big 12 schools, and some Pac 12 schools.......

I think it was a strategic move on his part to commit to Nebraska.

kinda bush for players to do this. They should make a rule, no verbal commitments until say September.

Here's a million dollars question I would love to know

How do recruits truly see us and what Nebraska program perception in the eyes of the young up coming high school players??

Nebraska is off the radar and a 'best of the rest' offer.

All you really have to do is look at the stars and ratings that sites like Rivals give all these kids....

For some reason the kids who gots the 4 and 5 stars don't like to come here very much..........but they really like to go to USC, Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, etc...

Kinda always been like that though. NU just had the coach and the system to make it work against the Stars.
