Looking at the last few drafts, the 49ers made trades in the first round, different teams traded at 29 last year as well. I expect the trend to continue and we find more gold

there are about 4 or 5 teams that have two 3rd rounders, so that phone should ring.

I think people forgot that AP was strong in the 2nd half of the draft and he was not against making a trade if he thought it would help the team.

For Washington, it's going to take at least two more drafts before they regain a "best player available at a position of need." Right now the youth cupboard after being completely empty is one draft filled with new talent but not enough to make for a solid core.
So, what do they do if the directive includes a win now too mindset,?... one and two year contracts for veterans while you're waiting for the next two April's to come around.
What then does this have to do with pick 29 in this year's draft? Well, it crystallized what they can or cannot do with the pick and trading out of it is the obvious move, unless, there's an fairly obvious game changing draftee/ trade target with a lot of year's ahead of him. I don't see that guy in the draft and realistically the ONLY two with remaining question marks on their future employment are Micah Parsons and Ja'Marr Chase. (No chance in hell... right?) So, speeding up the process can only happen if they trade the pick.

I agree. Unless you've got a prospect you didn't expect to be there with a high grade, might as well double your chances to hit again in the 2nd round

We will know fairly soon what Adam Peters long term plans are. Perhaps sooner than I expect, he'll trade out of the first round for future picks. It is my contention that he's about a third of the way into digging out from the Rivera/Snyder mess and implementing his long term goals. Like most, the entire organization has to be more than merely pleased with these stop gap measures. Would you object to using 29 for a lower pick this year (3rd, 4th perhaps) and a first next year?

I am always for future first rounders.

getting more draft picks in a trade down is a good thing and it will inject some youth into the off season

I would not object, but from a brief sample of how the mocks have evolved closer to april....
DT Walter Nolan, OL Grey Zabel and EDGE James Pearce are all available.
Pearce catches my eye because he's young, healthy and does everything well.
He could be a guy that goes beyond going everything well and becomes elite.
Although getting a 1st for next year is typically a no brainer, there are a handful of guys that would make hesitate.

I think the team as well as most of us would love to trade back. But this may be a tough draft to do that as I've heard several people claim this is a deep and unique draft as the player at 29 is not graded much higher than the player at 100.

This is true
