The reason they couldn't bring Settle back was probably money. Settle got 4.5M/year while the 47th pick last year got a 1.8M/year deal. Clearly the FO is thinking they can eventually get similar production at one-third of the price.
Mmmmm too Walmartish!:D

Another voice of decent. I had this concern with Rivera was hired. It's not the coaching, it's the front office incompetence. We need more talent on this team and Rivera has done little to nothing this offseason to help with that.

I love the following article:

It’s another pitfall of the Carson Wentz trade, which swallowed most of their available cap space this offseason. But why didn’t they simply restructure the QB’s contract to maximize their resources? Washington is one of a few NFL teams that doesn’t fancy reworking deals and it came back to haunt them in this scenario.

Whether it’s a matter of having an eye on future roster building or not wanting to jeopardize having an easy out on Wentz’s deal after 2022 is unclear, but the team was forced to part ways with Landon Collins and Matt Ioannidis, two important pieces, as a result of absorbing Wentz’s $28.95 million cap charge.
Wouldn’t it have made sense to restructure Wentz’s deal in order to offset those losses? We’re two months into the offseason and Andrew Norwell’s two-year, $10 million deal contract remains the team’s biggest free agent splash.

I am sure some posters will disagree.

Ionnidis was a loss, but collins was going to be cut regardless of what happened with wentz. He cost entirely too much for a shitty safety and/or a buffalo nickel lb. Midway through last season everybody lnew he was gonna be gone unless he restructured.

I don’t know but I was sold that this team would always be “the redskins “ and the history would be “ incorporated “

He's correct, however, not doing all that you can to actually have that QB is self-defeating!!

They have had chances to move up in drafts in order to get their guy but we're too afraid. They have been victims of their own dysfunction when they had guys with promise, and finally, they have no sense of self when refusing to pay a very well deserved "stupid tax" when better valued QBs hit the market.

Please don't use the lack of success not happening because they didn't have "that guy" behind center as justification, look at what they didn't do to get him over all of this time and ask why didn't they.

Meh.DeAngelo Hall isnt wrong or right.

If they win, they’ve “evolved.”

If they win next year with a first or second place schedule, they’ve “evolved” further.

one aspect i think this article got wrong was the name thing . the fans loved the name redskins . then to be cut out of the renaming of it when the base really wanted red wolves to end up with the commanders . . suing fans didnt help
