Here's a video that BGDave can view - It's from Shanaban when he was with the DOPS and it talks about accidental collisions (player on player). The one where Marleau hits Burns (starting at approx. 4:15 in) is pretty close in my opinion to the Wideman hit on Henderson last night. Marleau at the last second brings up his arms to protect himself.

Except Burns wasn't directly in Marleau's eyeline for 5+ seconds prior to the collision like the linesman was in Wideman's.

I really think Wideman just did something incredibly dumb and dangerous.

i think the fact that Wideman also brought his stick down to the ice hard in that skate to the bench might show what kinda mindset he had ... angry with the refs?

Was it dumb? Yes. Was it dangerous? Yeah, any hit from behind close to the boards is dangerous. Was there deliberate intent on the part of Wideman? Really tough to determine in my opinion.

The way Wideman has played this season, it could be more punishing to the Flames to keep him in the lineup. I can see no suspension, 10 games, or 20 games. What I do know is that people will be upset regardless of what Colin Campbell decides.

I think it should be zero games. I didn't see any intent there, things happen fast and it appeared they both veered into each other and Wideman's reaction was to brace himself. I feel like that looked a lot worse than what it actually was. It'll be interesting to see what's decided.

This incident has received plenty of attention south of the 49th parallel as well. I don't think that bodes well for Dennis.

the indefinite suspension news of today can work itself into the US media cycle and it will be done and the league can announce next week post AS break (when no one down south cares anymore) that its 0 games
