NICE ! Anyone else find it strange that TSN adds a boatload of new channels AFTER losing NHL rights to Sportsnet ? WTF ? What poor account rep gets to try and sell add time for Womens over 50 softball games ?

not really ... i think this was the perfect opportunity for Bell to add channels ... theyve always been buttsore that Rogers Sportsnet was allowed by the CRTC to have all these "regional" channels ... never more so than now that the supposed "regional" sportsnet have the national broadcast rights to hockey

TSN/Bell are going to be stealing away properties from Rogers (because they overspent on NHL) when certain rights come up and TSN will be adding properties as they go that they couldnt bid for before because they only had 2 channels (ie full champions league coverage)

plus as my brother said ... TSN4 will show Rocky IV 24/7

Does this mean the Canucks are looking for sum-kinda play-by-play guy?

first thing I did when I heard Rick Ball was moving on was to make sure the Mark Lee was already otherwise occupied

since we are talking aboot it in this thread

the "powers that be" have said Stephen Brunt of sportsnet is no longer going to be on as a regular cesspool guest

That's too bad as I think Stephen Brunt is one of the best writers/guests out there.

Meh, I guess it pushes other guys, but someone like Tyler Wotherspoon should be given every opportunity to succeed

I look at it as following the Red Wings model and letting the young guys have success at the AHL level first before throwing them to the wolves in the NHL. I mean, if a young guy shows he's ready, by all means don't hold him back, but I'm not sure that's the case with Wotherspoon (who I have high hopes for, by the way).

Flames GM Treliving expects a step forward this season

"Ultimately, how is that step foward determined?" asked Treliving rhetorically. "We go into this season with the goal of making the playoffs and I don't think that should ever change. Our goal, our mission as an organization is to make the playoffs and we need to see progress and progress can be measured many ways. We've got some internal indicators, but we need to see our team, collectively and each player, to make a step forward."

On one hand, what else is he supposed to say, but the only team I can see the Flames beating out in the Pacific Division is the Oilers.

So they liked him so much that they took 3 other guys before him and then sat there crossing their fingers for 47 picks rather than trading up to make sure that they got him.

Gotta love scouting personnel, always trying to play up their contributions and importance after the fact.

Well, when you have a drafting history as piss poor as the Flames, you're going to trumpet a potential diamond in the rough as much as possible.

Well, if you can't draft worth a lick, then you better be able to pull off some blockbuster trades...

Flames have signed Trevor Gillies and Nolan Yonkman to PTO's - Can you say truculence?

So this is going to be just like Slapshot? The Canucks better bring in some goons of their own or this game may get one sided and the scouts won't be happy.
