Is there a goaltending controversy in Toronto? Woll is looking darn good these days.

Samsonov has a better sv% since Nov. 1, .905 to .903.

Either way, they need someone to take it and run with it and be good enough to withstand the shitty blue line until Treliving can overpay for a depth blue liner to become the new Justin Holl.

Speaking of….

I love Tanev. He’s been healthy for good stretches of his time in Calgary once he escaped the Canucks’ quack doctors. But he’s 34 in a few weeks. Why are you trading assets and signing a 34 year old hard nosed d-man?

You could have just said "Erik Gudbranson"

Um, from a year and a half ago...

The Toronto Maple Leafs signed veteran defenceman Mark Giordano to a two-year contract extension Sunday. The average annual value of the contract is $800,000 US. Giordano, 38, had eight goals and 27 assists in 75 games this season split between Toronto and the Seattle Kraken

If Tanev takes league min to win with his hometown team (mod note: no hometown players seem to be winning much with this team) then sure but why would he?

Over 40 million in career earnings to date - He's not looking for a big payday, he just wants to win.

If that's the case, great.

He will 100% suffer a catastrophic injury immediately afterward though and I'm not sure I wish that on the guy. Hope he goes somewhere nothing bad ever happens to players like Vegas or TB.

he is utterly useless and a liability every time he steps on the ice.
That being said, I thought that was a very very weak call.
It was, I’m just more agitated that he went out of his way to go after the rookie.

Keefe had last change all night, Reaves talked shit pre game, nothing happened with him and Marchand and then Marchand scored the GWG.

There is absolutely zero benefit whatsoever to having him dress. He should be sent to the AHL and then bought out.

meanwhile Sam Lafferty scored his 6th on the year last night.
but he hasn't punched anyone in the face, so call it a toss up?

Glad Lafferty found a good role and is having some success but for whatever reason he was completely forgettable in TO.

That sounds like the Calle Jarnkrok story, struggled with the Flames, very good with the Leafs.

Friedman giving me some nightmare fuel.

“I do think Toronto’s taken a look at Philadelphia’s Rasmus Ristolainen, who has three seasons remaining on a five-year, $25.5M contract. But, I don’t believe the Flyers are eager to give him away, and there’s no rush for them to do anything while their group is playing well. That’s not to say it couldn’t be something down the road, but when the team is competing hard, getting good results and generally doing what is being asked of them — why throw a stink bomb into your dressing room?”
