Look at the bright side, maybe the mobsters will get the Sens as a settlement to the suit!

This is hilarious and I want to believe it, buuuutt...

... this debt is from 2 years ago when Marner still had 2 years left on his contract. Seems unlikely that Melnyk would have that kind of foresight, even in the festering stew of lunacy that is his brain.

Oh it’s 100% made up.

But, like, I thought about it for a second. I found it somewhat plausible. That in of itself is concerning.

LOL. It is plausible with him. Maybe we just have to change the name Marner for all we know.

And concerning? I mean Sens fans are WAAYYY beyond being concerned. The NHL should be doing something about this at this point.

It's totally possible that Melnyk would have wanted to Offer Sheet someone on a deal with two years left... :thumb:

Could be quite the bargain in a few years.

First Boeser gets a reasonable deal, and now Ottawa spends money to lock up a franchise player. WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Fuckin' right!

Could be a steal as early as the first year of this deal.

No signing bonuses. I love the deal for the team but this kid left a bunch on the table.

Puzzled as to the perception that Chabot should not have signed this "cheap".

Next year he is #6 in the league for D based on cap hit. How much more could he really expect to get?

Like any other player, he is one knee-on-knee away from a broadcasting career. Don't blame him for taking the bird in the hand.

I think the talk is more about how he had the team over a barrel and could have pushed really hard. Pubic sentiment is bad, and he could have really gotten greedy and beaten the shit out of them and he didn't. He just made the sensible move, and wasn't a dick about it. Good move all around.

Which is all too rare lately. Noone is sure how to react.

I would be doing cartwheels if either Jones or Werenski were on the same deal.

I suppose, but there's a good chance of both a) the cap increasing exponentially in the next 3-4 years, the time which a bridge would've carried him and b) he could become one of the best d-men in the league during that time.

It's just bucking the trend of players seeming to bet on themselves rather than take security.
