I like your beard.
Just want to take a moment to say thanks for Perron.
Should the Edmonton Oilers win the draft lottery for the fourth time in six seasons, it could be of another team's benefit.
General manager Craig MacTavish revealed Tuesday that he's willing to deal a to-be-determined 18-year-old prospect selected in June's draft in order to acquire a player further along in the process, the team announced via Twitter.
lol
So Hamilton is the NHL's Los Angeles now. Can't wait until the Flames do the same thing when the city says "uhhh, we ain't got no oil money no more so we can't build you an arena".
If and when they do the same thing, bring on the criticism. Until then, I think it's uncalled for to paint Flames ownership in the same light as Katz, who essentially held Edmonton hostage with a trip down to Seattle and this entire Hamilton situation in order to get a sweetheart deal for his new arena.
honestly can you blame him? if he can get it done why wouldnt he? its business the city benefits from the team as does the team from the city. this doesnt really bother me that much
No, the city (ie: the taxpayer) does not benefit from a hockey arena as much as the team does. In fact, they usually don't benefit at all, unless you call repaying a loan for 30 years and winding up paying 8 times the original amount a "benefit".
fair enough, I get that part. I guess Im more saying he saw the chance to exploit the city and as a businessman took advantage of it. it is what all big business does and will always do. I just dont blame him for doing it. calgary will do the same, especially with burke in charge (how much is a payphone now?)

To be fair, I paint all ownership with the same brush. Calgary's just next up on the arena list is all, unless you count Melnyk who I'm sure will be doing things just as deviously as Katz did.
