7-4 Coyotes. 22 goals against in four games, 13 in the last 2, for the Oilers. Somebody get Katz a pen, I smell another letter coming

Strudwick thinks that Draisaitl should be sent back to junior, but since the Oilers centre depth is so thin, he's likely to stay up with the big club.

Where's Anton Lander? Plug him in and don't burn a year off Leon's ELC.

This is getting very ugly there, though.

Getting?

I agree on Draisatl. When the team is this much of a trainwreck, don't waste his ELC year. And perhaps more importantly, don't ruin his confidence by letting him get eaten alive in a bad situation.

From the article in Mooger's link:

The Oilers’ season isn’t over by a long shot

I would argue that it is, or at least on life support, How are the Oilers going to gain ground on teams like the Kings, Ducks, and Sharks? Heck, even the Flames are 5 points up on them already.

At what point should the league take over the Oilers due to incompetence? I think it's time.

does it only become incompetence when the attendance falls rapidly? oh wait, phoenix and florida continue to exist still.

Since 2009 the Oilers have drafted 10th, 1st, 1st, 1st, 7th & 3rd overall. They should be contending for a playoff spot by now at the very least. Not only do they fail on draft day, but their player development department doesn't seem to be getting the job done.

It's too bad there is no threat of relegation in the NHL.

/the trap door would have the Oilers logo painted on it for sure

The biggest problem could have been solved in January of this year...

From CBC's Elliotte Friedman:

"What I believe has happened this week with all the craziness going around the team, Kevin Lowe offered to either take a sabbatical or step away from the Oilers if they felt that, that would calm things down in the market and in the city. I understand that offer was rejected by the owner Darryl Katz...

Its been a wild time there right now and I believe that's a way he tried to get them to try and ease the pressure..."

however ... Eddie Lack and Ryan Miller have never lost a game in their careers versus Edmonton ... so theres that

Add to that the fact that they got rid of some solid players who have done quite well on other teams - Andrew Cogliano in Anaheim, Jarret Stoll and Matt Greene in LA. I'm not a big Sam Gagner fan, but where was the contingency/replacement plan? Or was it Draisaitl the plan all along (he's not ready, by the way). They sent Smid to the Flames and he would likely be the top Oilers defenseman today. Just one mistake after another.

How long until it's Katz's grandson on stage welcoming the new number one draft picks to Edmonton?
