Ceci is in the final year of a 3.25 shmill contract, he'll be easy to flip at the trade deadline for a pick. He's an easy guy to dump on and I've done it in the past myself, but he does improve the Sharks and weaken the Oilers in my opinion.

Ceci is overpaid but he's a RD who is decent in a bottom pair role. The problem with Ceci arises when teams (Ottawa, Toronto, Edmonton) seem to think he's a top 4 D. Then he gets destroyed but RD are hard to come by and he's improved to the point where he's not liability on the third pair.

All that being said I'm not sure that he's THAT much better than Emberson and he's more than 3x the price tag. Seems like a bad trade for the Sharks. I would have demanded more than a 3rd to help the Coil out of their cap issues.
