I think that makes it 12 of the last 13 seasons that the Oil have missed the playoffs.

Asked if he thinks the Oilers are close to fixing this broken toy in time for next year, McDavid rolled his eyes as if to say ‘Take a look around.’

“We don’t even have a GM, so I don’t think we’re in any position to comment on next season,” he said. “We have a lot of crap to figure out. I hope we can put the right man in the spot and we can put together a good team.”

McDavid frustration level “really, really high” after Edmonton Oilers eliminated again

There is so much to fix with this Oilers team - They have no goaltending, defense is poor and outside of three forwards, they have very little up front. The crazy thing is the Oil are right up against the cap as well. Whomever takes the GM job in Edmonton is dealing from a position of desperation and the other 30 GMs in the league know this. At this point, I think their only hope is that Chiarelli gets a job with another NHL team :D

Wennberg, Milano, Harrington and Korpisalo for Nuge and Caleb Jones.

C'mon Gretz, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Meanwhile, dman Erik Gustafsson (Oilers draft pick in 2012) is having a great year with the Hawks (17 goals and 59 points thus far). Those 17 goals would likely have the Oilers in the playoffs, right Bob Nicholson?!?

Why on earth did they not sign him? Unless he was hell bent on getting away from Edmonton you sign the guy. He had VERY good numbers for a young defender in the SHL.

If he WAS set on not signing then you have to trade his rights for something. Pretty much sums up the Oilers.

If I recall correctly, they sent him back to the SHL to work on the defensive side of his game - The Hawks thought enough of Gustafsson to sign him to an entry level deal when the Oilers walked away from him.

Small d-man, MacT was GM.

Flip side, a right move or two and Chicago has a lot of ingredients to contend next season.

Oilers lose 6-2 and still somehow manage to get one of the three stars of the game. That's how they roll in Edmonton.
