That Peter Chiarelli parting gift is really starting to rot...

/Of course, the truth might be that Lowe and MacT okayed this extension.

man, i find almost everything funny in this thread

Agreed, and it starts right at #1

4. The Oilers don’t have any glaring needs. With Schultz, Ladi Smid and Jeff Petry, the Oilers have three outstanding-to-solid young d-men to build around, so the notion of trading for expensive Dion Phaneuf or less proven Jake Gardiner isn’t enticing. In Montreal, P.K. Subban is going to have a large price tag, too, and I know this will mark me as an Oilers fan, but I don’t love Subban’s game more than Petry’s game, certainly not when you factor in Petry’s low contract. Winnipeg has the likes of Dustin Byfuglien, Zach Bogosian and Tobias Enstrom, but you don’t trade a first overall pick for those kind of pieces. USA star d-man Jacob Trouba? That’s an interesting name raised by Ralph, but not in a Yakupov trade. Young d-men take forever to develop and are far more uncertain quantities than young forwards.

Trade Nail Yakupov? Not if you want to win a Stanley Cup. | Edmonton Journal

To be fair, Schultz and Petry are both playing very well for their teams these days (although Schultz has been injured for almost the entire year, his record to-date is very good).

Their teams just don't happen to be the Oilers.

True.

But to be even fairer, Nail Yakupov is out of the league. I'd say that trading him for PK Subban would have been an OK trade for the Oilers. That's just me though.

Nice juxtaposition of McDavid's unending energy and magical hands and Lucic's showing up halfway through completely immobile, out of breath and probably thinking about test driving a 2019 Buick Enclave.

By the way, that's Draisaitl at the top of the screen who let Kane go in all alone...

How long until Hitchcock goes Jim Mora in a press conference?

I felt like we were almost there today.

Playoffs?!?!??!?!?

Here's what I don't get, Kenny - They signed Koskinen to the 3 year extension yet Talbot is getting all the starts lately. Oilers logic, I guess.

Talbot was always the better goalie. Being an Oiler just ruined his brain after a few years. And I bet he walks after this year.
