Geez it sounds like EDM is ready to pull the trigger on something. Who gets shipped out? Nuge, Yak, Hall, Purcell?

I will take one Nuge, please.

For Tyutin and Johnson. Veteran presence. What the Oils need.

If we could ensure Nuge is here next year, I wouldn't care where we draft. Current situation is we're pretty much fucked unless we get Mathews. Nuge + a Tkachuk or Nylander would take the sting off not getting Mathews. Nuge + Laine or Puljujarvi would have me doing cartwheels. Nuge AND a lottery win?

I think a big piece from Edmonton moves, but I think it's this summer, even though returns tend to be better around deadline day. I mostly think this because it's been a few years since Chia sold off a young talented forward for s questionable return, so he's probably itching to get back in the game.

Confirmed: Leah Hextall has bigger cajones than Doug Maclean.

Why beat around the bush? Guys are clearly worried about offending friends, but it's an issue. They can't keep misusing these "franchise" guys that fall into their laps.

No misuse here Pix. It's just been an unprecedented 6 weak drafts in a row.

Rumo(u)rs out of Switzerland are saying that Matthews is stuck on one pull-up.

That chart that he opens with seems pretty fucky to me. How can basically all the forwards be pluses in grade A chances per 15 while all but one D-man is a negative in the same parameter?

I don't watch them all the time but do the Oil regularly roll out 5 D for shifts? I mean it is the Coil we're discussing here so it's possible but it certainly seems unlikely.

It's the SWARM holdover from Dallas Eakins, Kenny.

That chart says Clendening is their best D and they don't play him. Seems like tanking to me. Also Gazdic literally brings nothing to the table.

Man, those fans in Edmonton are a surly bunch. Leah Hextall followed up her rant on tv the other night with an article on Sportsnet which generated a bunch of butthurt comments. There were some hilarious comments as well (one poster suggesting the Oilers should target Erik Karlsson, Oliver Ekman-Larsson or Drew Doughty). Hey, good luck with that :thumb:

Well, I must say McDavid would look good in a Sens uniform. I can't see anything else on the Oilers that wouldn't have the Sens brass laughing and hanging up the phone when it was proposed for Karlsson.

Even then...ok, trade Karlsson for McDavid. Aren't the Sens then just stuck looking for a new 1D?

/Unless Phaneuf was actually brought in for that role...

I agree. It's hard not to be biased about your team's players but I'm not sure I'd do that trade anyway.

IMO, Karlsson is just as unique a player as McDavid is/is likely to be.

Add hell no, I don't want Phaneuf as my #1 D. Recipe for dis...

...well you know all too well how THAT story ends.

If/When the Oilers win the draft lottery, do they trade the 1st overall pick to try to acquire a stud defenseman?
