There's an article posted in The Athletic today with the title "2018-19 Goalie Tiers: Anonymous panel of GMs and coaches rates all 31 starting goalies"

Sergei Bobrovsky and Andrei Vasilevskiy tied for top spot

Did twatwaffle write it? Because if he did, the headline would be "One of top two goalies in the NHL has ridiculous contract demands to remain in podunk city and would prefer some place like Chicago or Miami like I always wanted to go to."

Not a good way to start the season.

Well, at least it's only gonna wind up being like 10 games.Could have been worse.

Good news is by all accounts Werenski and Nutivaara are healthy so by Christmas we might actually see what the defense looks like.

Chicken Parm was on 1050 last night and he said it would be a disaster if the Jackets didn't either re-sign Bobrovsky and Panarin before the deadline or move them.

I guess standings will dictate a lot but losing two guys that TSN ranked in their top 50 in the league for diddly squat, minus winning the Cup the year they leave, would be hard on any club.

I expect one will re-sign and one will be traded, but it is yet to be seen which is which.

It's more likely some middle tier guys could go for cap room. Dubinsky is all but done but on a shit contract - it would be great if we could dump him off. But some moderately attractive pieces like Murray, Wennberg, Milano and maybe Jenner or Anderson have ready replacements waiting in the system. Foudy, Davisson, Sedlak, Carlsson and Abramov all had great camps. Davidsson, Sedlak and Carlsson earned spots right now, IMO. Abramov and Foudy are a year away but both gonna be good. Foudy is Wennberg's replacement. Full stop. He's bigger, smoother, faster and has better hands.

Plus we have an NHL ready goalie playing out a contract in Switzerland so if we lost Bob we're not tumbling all the way down to Korpisalo. If Merzlikins says he is definitely coming to NA next year, add Korpi to the list of tradable pieces. Merzlikins and Samsonov are rated very similar. Both likely capable NHL starters. Neither is gonna be a superstar, but what can you do? Not ideal, but not a "disaster" either. Not like it would have been for us 3 years ago when Bob was all we had.

Jarmo is too smart lose either for nothing unless he legit feels a cup is in the offing. And it really isn't unless some misfortune befalls Toronto, Washington or Tampa (at least).

I think watching Tavares walk last season should scare a lot of clubs with pending UFA's into being proactive. The Islanders should've moved him last summer once he wouldn't sign a deal.

The Jackets are in a better position because they have a chance of competing in their division and they have quality in other positions but hitting a home run in acquiring Panarin for Saad becomes less of a win if they lose him for nothing, even if they keep Bobrovsky.

Like I said, I don't think there is any way Jarmo loses either for nothing unless they legit feel like a cup is coming.

The other side of the Tavares thing is teams saw how he played teams against each other so it remains to be seen how willing a team would be to give up quality assets if they think they are going to wind up on the outside looking in.

The more people like Twatwaffle push the whole "Panarin will only play in Tampa or Miami" crap, the worse the return looks.

The Test Tube is back in C-Bus...

Well, Cleveland.

He is on waivers for assignment. Should be a good role model for the kids in Cleveland.

So Murray caught a skate to the groin area, which is why he's on IR....

He had to have stolen a cursed diamond from a Gypsy. It's the only explanation for his terrible luck.

Columbus Blue Jackets activate Murray, place Harrington on IR

Ryan Murray, who got kicked in the nutsack will be back and playing with Markus Nutivaara, whose give nickname is "nutsack".

If either one gets moved to play with Werenski, we will dub that pair "NutZach"

Pairs appear to be as follows:
Werenski - Savard
Team Nutsack
Kukan - Carlsson

Forward lines are likely:
Panarin - PLD - Atkinson
Foligno - Wennberg - Bjork Bjork
Jenner - Dubinsky - Anderson
Duclair - Other Nash - Milano

And the goalie head games have begun. Korpi gets the opener. Probably not a lot to read into it, the backup should get Detroit.

Blue Jacket hockey is back. Outshoot a team 39-17, win 3-2 in OT.

At least the Power Play managed to score.

I liked this, because it's so sadly true...ugh.

If our offense is not great again this year, we kind of have to pay Bob his money, no?

I think the offense will come around. They were moving the puck well last night, the PP looked like an NHL power play and the transition from defense to offense looked good.

But yes, we have to pay Bob.
