I think they'd be insane to let this management group make any addition at this point. Let them sell off at the deadline, fire them, get new people in and let them rebuild as they see fit.

Lots of good young pieces and if they can sell off guys like Provorov, Jenner and Laine (somehow) there's lots of cap space to play with. One year of patience under someone smart will do this club wonders.
Absolutely agree that they shouldn't be letting the current crew make too many changes, but unfortunately the ownership group is shielded a bit by sellouts and a guaranteed arena at $1 a year leasing for the next 20 years. they make comfy money and face no real external pressure.

And I agree on Jenner and Provorov, but not Laine. Him and Fantilli are close and showed some super chemistry in pre-season. I'd like to get Patty healthy and staple him to Fantilli's side for a while and see how they develop. It's not really been tried. Provorov just hasn't been what the Jackets need and he is in the way of Ceulemans and Mateychuk who both look strong.
Jenner fucked the room with his statement on Babs before meeting with everyone. As captain and the NHLPA rep, it's inexcusable.

I think the deadline plan should be get rid of Jenner, Provorov, one of Boqvist or Bean and Tarasov. And maybe pray that someone would want Gudbranson (although he's been steady) and shoot Olivier into the sun. Find a veteran goalie on UFA and find some of the versatility we chased off in Bjorkstrand, Atkinson, and Gavrikov

Wait, when did you get rid of Bjorkstrand? That was silly.

I've given up on Laine. Even if you want to think the skill's still there the injuries you mentioned - dude's averaged 55 games a year the past two and probably won't hit that mark this season. At 26 i'm not sure you're getting a great player still out of that. May be worth one more year of trying but even at a buyout there's probably better ways to spend the cap space. Just me though.

I don't really hold the injuries against him, especially this year since both were the result of dirty hits. If he can stay safe and healthy, he can be an asset that we would not be able to afford to replace. And if around next trade deadline it hasn't panned out, you can make a decision then. And he's one year closer to UFA making him more attractive for a contender.

We're not going to be considerably better next year anyway

Enough is enough - both the gm and head coach need to be fired immediately after game 82.

Can't wait to see who they waive when those 3 come back.

Laine started as a goalie as a kid and his dad talked him out of it. Maybe it is time to turn the dial of destiny.

Jarmo, if you are reading this - this is satire.

Not gonna lie, I check this forum mostly for news on whether Olivier has been launched into the sun. This post could be a Nostradamus-level prediction of such an occurrence.

Management has been inconsistent as hell except for one thing: Unwavering dedication to the meathead. They'd waive Fantilli before letting anything unpleasant befall that donkey.

Snazzy new baby blue practice jerseys signifying players that are not physically capable of playing at NHL Speed (I am assuming).

Patty because he still has a broken clavicle. Olivier because his brain is made of brisket.

That blue really brings out Olivier's eyes

Not terribly surprised since he is waiver exempt. It really doesn't have anything to do with how he personally is playing. There are just too many defensemen in the way on unmovable contracts and Werenski is coming back tonight (allegedly).

Jarmo gave an interview that I admit I haven't listened to but some are taking something he said to mean that the Provorov and Severson deals were both to appease Babcock who wanted more of a veteran presence on D. And both of those guys are puck movers so it's possible. But it's created a huge logjam that may be fucking with the development of our future #1D. A situation that will get Markedly worse next year when Mateychuk is in the mix and Ceulemans will have a year of pro hockey under his belt.

Literally all for of these guys could go, although I would prefer Gudbranson leave over Peeke, but that's just me.
Bean - maybe now that he hasn't had to take a leave of absence someone will trade for him.
Boqvist - flashes of brilliance. Bones of balsa wood
Peeke - Solid third pair guy. Better than Gubberson
Provorov - Started hot, has done nothing since.
