Not sure what's going on, but I appreciate the Jackets keeping it quiet for this long. Hope whatever his issue is, that it gets resolved and he comes back soon. Felt like he was just about to break out when he broke his finger. Could very well be second line with Sillinger and Bjorkstrand next year.

I wasn't even aware that he went home until a clip from French TV the other day showed him at an event in France. Immediately some "fans" (and Frank Seravelli) jumped to the conclusion that he hates Columbus and Jarmo like PLD (They both speak French, you know) did and has demanded a trade and he faked the injury and isn't going to come back until he is traded.

I imagine Jarmo is getting a tad tired of having to refute press reports. Just last week he basically said "Fuck Off, Laine isn't going anywhere".

Assuming Columbus could convince them to take the lessor of the two picks I don’t understand why Columbus wouldn’t do this.

If they’re concerned about it at this point might as well just admit you’re rebuilding long-term and trade Laine before he goes goalless for another 30 games.

Is that suggesting the ask is ONLY that 1st rounder for Chychrun? Or is that first part of a package?

If it's only that first, I can't say yes fast enough. There isn't much hope we get a talent like him with a first this year. Plus him coming might get Domi to sign longer term, they are good friends. You have to pick up the phone when that call comes. Chychrun and Werenski would be CRAZY.

For a package, Jarmo would have to tread lightly because there are a lot of high upside guys we'd want to careful about giving away.

Vancouver's 9th by pts % and tied on pts with Dallas with 3 more played. They're in the thick of it. Why would they be pressed to trade a guy with term that they could easily move in June and not lose out on anything?
