Other notes from Exit day;
Brad Shaw said he would be interested in the Ottawa head coaching job. Personally, I prefer they Promote/retire Torts and let Shaw take this over. He is the defense coach and it was stellar. Nutivaara said yesterday that Shaw taught him everything he knows about defense.

Ryan Murray confirms he was a few days away from coming back. Dammit.

Alex Wennberg declined to talk to media, and left quickly. Jarmo said they had a "hard" discussion about his lack of offense. They praised his defensive responsibility but told him they need more offense from him. Trade bait, I'd wager.

Anderson had a busted shoulder and Riley Nash got injured on the Chara hit and it got steadily worse.

Elvis, Tex, Bemstrom and Wennberg heading to worlds. Werenski is not.

As Zach Werenksi Approaches Life As a Restricted Free Agent, Here's a Look at What His New Blue Jackets Contract Might Look Like

Article on Werenski's RFA summer. Prediction sounds about right. 5.5 mil for 4 years.

That should put his contract up one year after Jones.
I'll be surprised if he isn't fighting for at least $6 mil even without eating any UFA years.

If he's going to take less he's going to be doing so for max 2 years, which is fine but probably not in the Jackets' long-term best interests. Even then it would be surprising for him to accept - a 21 year old defenceman with two 40 pt seasons under his belt already and a career gf% around 55% isn't going to be hearing any kind of discount or "but Seth is our best and he makes less" talk any more than Rantonen's team is going to listen to any "but look at what Mackinnon makes!" talk from the Avs.

And anyway, I'd rather overpay someone who's young, talented and yet to hit his prime than go crazy trying to keep Matt Duchene and then bitch in year 2 when he reverts to his 55 pt/yr norms and eating $10 mil of cap space.

Like it said, either him or McAvoy is going to set the bar.

I'm a little new to hockey FA, compared to NFL, but cap increases always make things a bit screwy.

And McAvoy is very good but Werenski had 3 fewer 5v5 points last season as McAvoy had total.

The thing with the NHL cap right now is teams are adjusting to the new reality where RFA's are taking tougher stands about getting paid since teams are realizing dumping money on aging UFA's goes against all statistical logic.

If he comes in at less than 6m per, it will be a shocker.

I see some people saying get him a bridge like 3x 4.5m.

Those people are on something. Kid's legit and only getting better.

As if there was any doubt:

Bob's place on the market.

Funnily enough, the agent is former Jacket and all around good guy Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre (AKA the Hyphenator)

My theory is that he is selling this place to Matt Duchene and is buying a nicer house in the burbs with all that new, big contract money.
Way too much plush seating in there.

They went to celebrate Riley Nash's birthday in Nashville.

Special guest Anthony Duclair.

I see (I think) Anderson, Cam, Foligno, Seth, Duchene, and Murray... Is one of them Boone? Then....?

Boone is all the way left (half face). The one in the black hat and shirt behind Murray is Adam McQuaid.

Strangely, not pictured is Riley Nash.

I thought Boone was on the left. I was trying to figure out who the top right was. Makes sense.

I’ll always be a goalie first and foremost so it’s tough saying goodbye to a great tendy you’ve watched for years. I’m just glad he got a series win before he left

but spending 10+ million for 7-8 years on a goalie over 30 would almost certainly be a bad move for the franchise and I’m glad he’s moving on

Losing bread will be the real heartbreak. Guys of his talent don’t come around often.

I wonder if he played his way out of some money at the end of this year

Saw bob just listed his condo in CBus, thought this comment was funny:

Solution here is obvious: hire some kids to make a bunch of noise everytime the place is getting shown to potential buyers. Nobody wants to buy the place. Bobrovsky can't sell so he has to remain in Columbus, decides to resign since he may as well work close to home

How do "no move" clauses work exactly (in regards to how many players can have them)? Bob had one, right? So we have an open one to use? Just thinking about Seattle

There isn't a limit to how many a team can have, but too many is a bad idea. Each one works differently. Most are such that the player can submit a list of teams he is willing to be traded to. Bob does have one, so he would have to approve any trade if we try to move him before UFA day. Which he may accept to get that 8th year. So we'd get something. A draft pick probably.

The current ones we have are:
Cam Atkinson - full No Trade til June 2020, he submits ten team acceptable list after that.
Nick Foligno - He would provide a ten team list he would accept a trade to.
Brandon Dubinsky - He provides a ten team list he would accept.

What should you do?

Lower your contract demands and stay or move on somewhere else. That's pretty much your choices.
