You tie up the best player on the ice who isn't part of the play and thus the refs aren't really paying attention to it. If anything, it likely would have been coincidental minors prior to McDavid going full Louisville Slugger to Garland's head.

Even if a penalty is called, the Oilers have the puck, so they wouldn't get the powerplay until they lose possession.

Granted draisitl is still dangerous, but it's awfully tough to make plays around that rodeo in the slot.

Seriously in that sequence before the cross check to the head. It should have been called incidental minors but knowing it is McDavid he would never been called for a penalty. Hence why Oiler fans are upset that their team wasn’t given an unfair advantage.

Trust me I should know being a Penguin fan seeing the calls go Crosby’s way in the past. Granted that doesn’t happen much anymore.

The Oilers next game is against the Capitals and it just happens to be a ESPN game which they have been promoting as OV vs. McDavid. Will they have the cajones to suspend McDavid?
