I think the focus should really be % of salary cap Petey is allocated rather than actual dollars - Don Taylor was being pretty disingenuous this past week on Donnie & Dhali, you can't compare what Petey ultimately signs for to JT Miller who signed his contract a few years ago. It's always the trade-off of security and risk of injury versus signing a shorter term deal and trying to maximize your dollars. The key thing is the Canucks have a very good player who just signed a 8 year extension in the prime of his career.

I have to believe the confidence in the cap going up over the next 2-3 years is real in being able to really build this team into a contender. I don't believe we are this year. We are a good team that is punching above their weight but have strong potential...

Everything you say I agree with but our fans are not the sharpest around. The Media knows this and they play off it. If they see the fans start to go to the negative side of Petey they will guide that for ratings and it will get ugly. I am just really glad the Sedins are there for these players
