Head to Head is the #1 tie breaker in every conference when determining who will play in their respective conference title games.

Quit being an idiot.

That's assuming the teams are tied, which when comparing teams from other conferences is dicey at best. Rarely are teams "tied" unless they play similar schedules.

Oregon at #10 has do to w/their terrible SOS thus far. Michigan is aided by them being undefeated, even with a crappy SOS as well. Had their schedule been even a little worse, or some of the 1 loss teams having a slightly better SOS, Michigan wouldn't be that high in the rankings.

As for Wisconsin they are 3-2 against the 94th rated SOS. That is not good. Their 3 wins are against +100 computer ranking teams. Also their 3 opponents they have beaten have a combined ZERO, yes ZERO wins against FBS teams. 3 FCS teams and 1 NAIA team, they've beaten nobody(to date) and their opponents have beaten even less(to date).

I disagree, you can certainly pick out trends based on the computer rankings. For instance, based on their OOC performance the Pac 12 and SEC are going to get the benefit of the doubt with the rankings if teams have similar records from different conferences.

Yes but you can't read too much into them. You have to look into the general area, but you can't treat them as concrete.

Oregon is going to rise over the year, so long as they keep winning.

Wisconsin I have way down in 56th, they haven't been impressive. But a few wins and they can still rise up.

I have Ohio St even lower @ #18. They haven't been winning impressive either. But if they win out, they will no doubt rise. Same as with other computers.

I don't read to much into them other than looking at this as a whole from a conference perspective. Individual teams can rise if they keep winning, but you can certainly get an idea of who will finish where, if those teams have identical records.

Also I think they took out MoV out of the equation, and with that, the Michigan games don't look nearly as bad as they should.

I've always assumed "tie-breakers" were used to break ties.

Using the Colley Matrix formula to determine that Notre Dame was #1 a day after getting their shit shoved in by Bama is idiocy and anyone who defends it by ignoring the Head-to-Head it is complete fucking idiot.

What the fuck else would they be?

There would be no need for tie breakers if they weren't tied.

If you're really going by body of work, aside from a couple out liars who haven't passed they eye test (Michigan), I really don't think these are that bad.

Even in your hypothetical world, Wisconsin's only legitimate loss is by seven on the road to the #18 team. That's not exactly unimpressive.

Sorry, but "legitimate loss" is bullshit and nobody else gives a shit. You are 3-2, deal with it.

Don't get me wrong, the refs blew it, but he should have put it down and took a knee and made sure.

Doesn't make it not legitimate, shit happens.

Give it up, Smart. Wisky is 3-2 and that's how it is. The computers aren't going to care. Nor should the voters.

None of your wins are impressive, either.

What #18 team?

Even if you want to call the Ariz St game a win, it's still only a 1 point (coin flip) win to a team that got clown stomped by Stanford and lost to Notre Dame.

I didn't realize outgaining your opponent and having a chance to win with less than three minutes left is getting "clownstomped."

If that's the case, then what do you call Nebraska's four losses per year?

Seriously, what is the purpose of rankings at all if you aren't going to care about circumstances. The whole point of having human voters to counteract computers is that we can realize "oh, shit...that one team deserved to win." We are more than a mathematical formula.

I'm fine if a computer wants to rank us #68. When a person tells me that our kids lost that game or to get over it, you can rot in hell. People make mistakes, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be held responsible. We assess blame all the time. Can you imagine if an appeals court went "This one judge says so, so its over?" Our society would be over.

We are living, breathing human beings who have the power to assess merit. And under any rational viewpoint, we deserved to win that game. Had the rules been followed, we would have won the game. Quit acting like you are a fucking machine and use your god-given analytical and free-thinking skills to stop blaming our players for something that was undeniably not their fault.
