Alright, geeks. Question:

Roku / Apple TV / Fire TV / Chrome Cast... any opinions on any of them? Pros / Cons / things to watch out for.

One function I rate high is the ability to show things from my laptop to my TV. And I don't typically use Apple products, I hear the Apple TV is finicky if using Windows or the Penguin.

Any input is appreciated.

I have a Roku3 and an Apple TV

like all Apple products, it is good and easy and pretty to do the things that Apple wants you to do (buy Apple content). Netflix is pretty easy on it too, interface is pretty. Updates take a long time.

Roku is easier to watch your own content, link to other devices, and add more channels. Also, as someone who doesn't have an iphone, it is nice to be able to use my blackberry (or my wife's Samsung) as a remote.

I don't have one but am considering it for it's vast array of file format support, NAS and attached storage playback, and streaming.

My mother is on a bus trip to Cleveland (no she didn't lose a bet, no she doesn't have a drinking problem, no shes not having an affair with former Browns RB Kevin Mack - c'mon guys) so I had to stop by her place last night to let her dog out. Since I was there alone I figured it was time to get rid of a a small stash of magazines from my youth. So down into the dungeon-like unfinished basement I went where I made my way back into the corner and reached up into a half torn ceiling tile and retrieved my old **** stash.
Its been a bad and boring week at work so I was not content to just toss them so I put them in a book bag and carried them into the work bathroom where I left them fanned out on the sink. Now I'm just sitting here waiting for a company email to come stating a company policy on early to mid 80s pornographic magazines. If it comes I figure I put in a good weeks work and will goof off the rest of the week.

Last night I watched a news broadcast from Korea in Korean. Why? Because I can.

I have no fucking idea what was going on. But I watched it.

my utterly stupid mother in law falls asleep watching the mandarin programming all the time, and then is confused when she is awakened by the Koreans that are in her TV in the middle of the night. She doesn't know how the Koreans are controlling her TV and why they are picking on her. This happens about once a week.

She's is getting very angry with Korean people in general for getting inside her TV and waking her up.
I tried to explain the programming schedule the first few times, now I just go along with it. Today I told her it happened to me too, and asked her why she gave the Koreans my name. She denied it of course, but thought they were pretty sneaky to figure out my TV was in the same house as hers.

I'm good. Tremendous downpours but I don't think we had any hail. Power only blinked a few times so we were lucky.

I wasnt worried about comeds ... hes been hit in the head with baseball sized hail many times before and its never hurt him

I'm pretty sure that's not true. At least I can't remember it happening, but I also can't remember it not happening.
