shorely, Morrisey is not a monarchist (i said it in a british accent)

Clearly, Morrissey is not familiar with the adage "if you don't have something nice to say..."
Because the noted sunshine-bringer of the British music scene today unleashed quite a horrific tirade against Kate Middleton, Prince William and the whole of the royal family, essentially blaming the monarchy for the tragic apparent suicide of hospital nurse Jacintha Saldanha.
And, it seems, more or less all the ills of the world.
"Even with the recent story about the nurse killing herself in King Edward Hospital, there's no blame placed on Kate Middleton, who was in the hospital as far as I could see for absolutely no reason," the former Smiths frontman and apparent secret medical degree holder told New Zealand's 3News.
"She feels no shame about the death of this woman, she's saying nothing about the death of this poor woman. The arrogance of the British royals is staggering, absolutely staggering. And why it's allowed to be I really don't know."
Morrissey is certainly entitled to his opinion, the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge was in the hospital due to a severe and ongoing form of morning sickness, and she and Prince William almost immediately issued a statement saying they were "deeply saddened" by the tragedy.
But that obviously wasn't enough for Morrissey, who went on to repeatedly question why the 30-year-old, who has canceled a week of public appearances due to her hyperemesis gravidarum, including today's royal London premiere of The Hobbit, was receiving doctors' care.
"Does she have a health condition? Is it anorexia or is it pregnancy? We don't know. But what is the health condition? I mean morning sickness already? So much hoo haw and then suddenly as bright as a button as soon as this poor woman dies she's out of hospital? It doesn't ring true. It doesn't ring true."
While the two Australian DJs who placed the prank call to the hospital have also been extremely publicly remorseful, Morrissey even turned that back around to the royals, as well as the British press at large.
"I'm sure the Palace and Clarence House put maximum pressure on this poor receptionist and nurse, and of course that's kept away from the press. I'm sure the British press hounded this poor woman to her death, that's kept away.
"It was a prank call and they probably didn't ever think they'd get as far as they did...It wasn't because of the two DJs in Australia that this woman took her own life, it was the pressure around her. And we forget about that and of course the royals are exonerated as always, they're just so wonderful and we focus on something else—two DJs in Australia—which is not how it should be."
And if you thought that was the end of it, think again. The legendary rocker still had a few more good insults left in him.
After essentially declaring that the royal family "hijacked" the Olympics to ensure the focus was on them and not the spectacle and assembled world athletes, he finally wound down with a few cutting personal attacks. Well, a few more.
"But the way they hijack everything and shove their face in is extraordinary. Because what do they say? Please tell me one thing the queen has ever said or William or Kate? I mean, they are zombies, but they are a business and it works."
In any case, it's not the first time the royals have fallen foul of Morrissey, as earlier this fall he called both Kate and Prince Harry "absolutely idiots." The sentiment is probably reciprocated.
