I met this dude yesterday! Didn't believe him that he played in the bigs until he pulled his teeth out. A self-proclaimed cement-head from Sudbury (is there any other kind?) he told me he got drafted because he could fight, he stayed playing hockey because he could fight, and he still plays and still fights today in rec leagues. I didn't think it deserved it's own thread, but I don't meet former NHLers very often, even if they are cup of coffee NHLers. Dude was a real cool guy. Told me when he used to play for the Grand Rapids Owls they used umbrellas on the bench because the birds in the rafters would shit all over. Said they always had riots break out and the cops would have to come and shut the game down. Man, the 70's sound awesome.
