I had to use CPVC and galvinized steel. I would have done it all completely different if I was changing all the pipes, but I just had to replace the transition from metal to plastic and change a couple couplings and elbows.

I shouldn't sub out all my plumbing jobs, I'm a better plumber than I give myself credit for. My wife even said I had the plumbers ass crack thing going on today too...

Hope you got a Bradford White/Lochinvar, best heater on the market. Just a word of warning, anything from the big box stores are junk, Whirlpool in particular. I wish I would have seen your post earlier, I would have warned you. Stick with Bradford White/Lochinvar, AO Smith, or Rheem if you can.

Also as far as PEX goes, everyone says it's great and will last forever... they also said that about Orangeburg, blue poly, gray poly, and some other earlier versions of PEX.... I see 70 year old copper all the time in perfect shape, but we won't know about PEX for a long time because the current version of PEX is only about 15 years old. It's more of a gamble. It is easy and quick as shit to run though. Cheap too.

I have jury duty next month, second time in five years. I'm not really looking forward to it. My plan is to use the first day to skip work and go drinking downtown, and then the second day I will show up with a white hood and burning cross, and hopefully they won't call me back.
