The discussions about mental health in this country are long overdue.
On the one hand, Canada should probably invest more in its military, even if only to meet NATO obligations.
On the other hand, why? It’s not like the US has a choice but to protect us - if we are invaded their security is immediately jeopardized (unless it’s them doing the invading) so by default we don’t really need a defensive armed forces. We already basically shit on our own economic interests so defence for that purpose isn’t really worth it (and a few strategically-based bombers would do the trick anyway). NATO won’t live or die based on Canada’s participation.
So what’s the point? Any good arguments other than “Canadian politicians own defence stocks too”?
