Mitt Romney's statement is a beautifully written and balances rights and responsibilities:
“Like all Americans, Mr. Trump is entitled to the presumption of innocence. The government has the burden of proving its charges beyond a reasonable doubt and securing a unanimous verdict by a South Florida jury. By all appearances, the Justice Department and special counsel have exercised due care, affording Mr. Trump the time and opportunity to avoid charges that would not generally have been afforded to others. Mr. Trump brought these charges upon himself by not only taking classified documents, but by refusing to simply return them when given numerous opportunities to do so. These allegations are serious and if proven, would be consistent with his other actions offensive to the national interest, such as withholding defensive weapons from Ukraine for political reasons and failing to defend the Capitol from violent attack and insurrection.”

Meanwhile, Haley and Pence falling over themselves to call this a political attack. (great primary strategy!!!)

Anyone using that line of thinking ignores one irrefutable, undeniable element of fact - these indictments come based on a GRAND JURY deciding the evidence contains probable cause a crime was committed. Even if you think or believe the current administration went outside it's bounds, a jury of citizens found they believe their decision to prosecute was accurate within the law.

If Clinton, Pence, or Biden committed a similar crime, I am all for their investigation. Party should be irrelevant.

I was thinking about this the other day - Is this the greatest self-inflicted wound in recent history? Here's a guy who seemingly had it all including a successful run on tv, allegedly a billionaire and in a matter of eight years has crashed to the point where he could be spending plenty of time in court and who knows what else. All because he decided to run for president.

It really is quite remarkable.

if it all does come crashing down on him and he is convicted you have to think his kids are next and that to me would be as satisfying as him....
