I agree with you. This will do nothing and eventually these people will lose hope and blame the people they should vote for vs the ones who are behind stopping any real progress.

the republicans have come out and basically said WE ARE NOT GOING TO CHANGE OUR STANCE.... and the Dems (and me) have no idea in how to change that

I thought I read that being a convict did NOT disqualify you from public office, but it DID disqualify you from voting.

I'm hardly qualified to teach an American Civics course though.
