Anyone else sick and tired of CTR being taught in schools??

:L

When he says "Critical Race Theory... can you tell me what that means?"

I was waiting for the follow up sentence.

"...Seriously, I want to know. We are supposed to be scared of it. But I've asked like 50 people today and nobody knows what it means."

You'll have to forgive me, I can't figure out how to tie this to the Will Smith pimp slap. But I thought it felt kinda important.

Looks like not just Roman:

Hate to be a soon to retire State employee in Florida right now.

Is there more about this? Who actually manages their public pensions? Did he do something that led to a direct investment by these funds in Russia-based securities?

I’m not entirely up to speed on how pension funds work down there but I’ve always figured they were pretty independent of government akin to how they are here.

It truly can be different from state to state. I am not sure how pensions are run in FL but from the sounds of it the Governor controls it with a board?

Seems like the Gov does oversee this.

Granted it is older when Rick Scott was Governor but notice this quote:

State retirement investments are overseen by Scott and the Florida Cabinet, whose members include Agriculture Commissioner and gubernatorial candidate Adam Putnam, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis.

Here is a more recent article:

Gov. Ron DeSantis controls the State Board of Administration along with fellow Republicans Jimmy Patronis, the state’s elected chief financial officer, and Attorney General Ashley Moody.

I don't understand these companies that manage their funds like this. When you have a massive fund like this, why would you not just do 50% index fund/50% bond fund? Give it to some huge brokerage house that will give you a big discount on it's management and save money on that end too. It's such common sense it's amazing anyone would come to any other conclusion.

It's sickening how easy it would be to legislate these kind of things (legislators shouldn't be able to buy individual stocks! easy!!! no #$#)ing brainer!!!) and it never seems to happen.

How dare you!

There was a post of a woman at a PTA meeting talking about litter boxes and furries a few weeks ago. This was the first time I saw this goof though.....maybe it was posted before though
