I can't wait for the analysis of how much the Qanon crap slows down now that Russian resources are tied up right now. Russia has been stoking divisions in every country on earth for a long time.

Just my opinion, but we really need to address the wealth gap in both the US and Canada. People are getting angry because they're working harder to make ends meet, but they feel like they are falling further and further behind and when you're desperate, it makes you more susceptible to these conspiracy theories/groups. Also, forget about teaching critical race theory in schools (or at least delay it until high school), how about bringing in some critical thinking skills?

Well if the immigrants and poor people dont stop leaching off the government and the middle class I do not see how that can be fixed.

I'm not sure if that's the best thing I'll read all day, but it brought a smile to my face.

Can't help but feel a little bit bad for the Russian people who through no fault of their own are being victimized by the whims of a mad tyrant.
I saw a post somewhere that said Russian history can be described by the sentence “And then it got worse”.

They’re used to this shit. There’s also some real shitty people among that population (also among Ukrainians but they didn’t launch an invasion so…).

They revolt almost as often as the French. If they’re all that bothered they should hop to it already.

So this is a real Canadian doing real work with real truckers. Not the fake tyranny in Ottawa a few weeks back.

So I'm assuming now that mask mandates are going away and public health rules are swinging back in the direction of normalcy, that the pundits who complained vaccine requirements (which our society already has for a number of diseases/pathogens) and mask requirements (which carried little legal force and few penalties) were simply a pretext for social control, and not simply a response to a dangerous public health crisis, will apologize for their allegations.

I'll wait.

What a moron.

Sorry but is he wrong? We have the third largest oil reserves on planet earth but the entire eastern portion of the country (ie: where all the people live) get the majority of their oil from Saudi Arabia and Russia.

Of course, fixing that would need to get the federal government involved and I’m sure Kennedy and the rest of the Alberta boneheads will be screaming NEP at the top of their lungs so I’m not sure wtf he’s trying here but our current strategy for keeping our economy fueled is kinda fucked up.

Kenney is just trying to profit from the huge raise in oil prices as well as placate indirect donors (some of them who just happen to be Russian) to his party. It is true that Canada should look to other places for its oil demand, but also increasing investment and development in renewables.

Curious what UK people's stance on EU would be if polled today.

Zelensky has applied for admission to EU. Not sure what would happen if Ukraine got admitted to NATO now. That's a bit like buying the warranty after your toaster is on fire.

Not to be cynical or anything but is the headline there that a local company makes political donations? Because that's some Charlie Day tack board stuff lol

The point is we fund despots every day rather than our own stuff because "environment" (because I'm sure Saudi Arabia and Russia etc. are following such high green standards when pumping the oil we use, let alone treating actual living human beings well) and it's ludicrous when situations like the current one arise. A lot of that is on past and current AB leadership but if there's a way to maximize revenues from our abundant resources and use parts of that revenue to fund domestic transitioning to a cleaner energy industry we're long past the time for it to happen and the current crisis should be making that a priority for all involved.

Oh I definitely agree that we need some kind of transition plan from fossil fuels to more renewable energy alternatives. I would like to think that we are making progress in this area, but the progress appears to be very slow. It just irks me that the first thing out of Kenney's mouth is build more pipelines.
