Reminds me of the comedy central bit during the 2000 election. Jon Stewart and Wanda Sykes when Jon said "there's a lot of red on that map". Wanda pointed to NYC "That's 14 million people" then LA "That's 10 million people". Then she gestured wildly at the middle of the map and said "There ain't shit out here but rocks and coyotes".

I seem to recall you posting something along the lines that 40 million people in California have the same number of senators as less than a million people in Wyoming. That seems a little out of whack to me.

Washington DC has more people than Wyoming. And zero representation.

If you would have said to the founding fathers that there would one day be 40 million people in California they would have said "HOW MANY people... WHERE?". The original 13 states had something like 2.5 million people. There are counties in the US now with more than that.

I read @dash post first and was about to say the same thing about DC.

You can also go on about Puerto Rico. It has more people than 18 states yet zero representation.

One of the most infuriating mentalities of people in rural areas around here is they don't want "city people" making decisions for them. It's why they are fine with the gerrymandering.

So, just because I live where the jobs are, my opinion matters less than yours? One person one vote. That's democracy, right?

I just had an idea - let's have the Caps/Habs series decide the 51st state. If the Caps win, DC becomes a state. If Montreal wins, Quebec does.

I see no downsides.

You could probably substitute Alberta in for Quebec above and it would still work - Although I would be sad to lose Banff National Park.

The opportunities would be endless:

Then the rest of Canada can becomes states if the Leafs win the cup. Most of Canada outside Ontario would lose the will to live anyway.

If Edmonton wins the cup we can send all those states we're not using like Wyoming, Montana or however many Dakotas there are to be part of Alberta.

Dallas wins, US gets Mexico. Carolina or a Florida team wins, US gets Ontario since most everyone from there spends summers in one of those two places already.

I would come up with a scenario if Winnipeg or Minnesota wins, but let's be real...

If the Habs won it would be amusing for lots of Americans to learn they now have some French speaking citizens, not just Spanish. All signs have to be in three languages.

did comeds sneak a post in between what your ^ referred to or are you insinuating comeds in unemployable ????

@Comeds is like Liam Neeson, he has a particular set of skills and visiting HR departments is one of them.
