Unfortunately feels like it will be higher than 30 k. Maryland has 160,000 federal employees in the state. And I don't think that counts the ones who live in MD and work in DC or NOVA.Lol *swigging Xanax and vodka*. I better leave the girls of HR alone, it might not be a great time to lose my job. I have a feeling in the next few months 20,000+ people in the general area might be hunting for jobs. 30,000? Higher?
Might be a good time for an elective tonsillectomy. I might be safer if I can't talk for a few weeks.
Hopefully that number is right. I am seeing anywhere from 160,000 to 225,000, to 325,000 depending on different articles. And good point about DC and VA. I know numerous people who live here and work in VA or DC, or vice versa. If suddenly unemployed, people from all three areas would probably be looking for jobs all over.Unfortunately feels like it will be higher than 30 k. Maryland is hoping to help
Maryland is one of the states that gets more from the federal government than it pays, so they will be extremely limited in what they can do. Even if they had resources, they'd be able to help individual workers but what is a state going to be able to do to help fix or replicate functions of Social Security, NOAA or NIH? They just won't.Hopefully that number is right. I am seeing anywhere from 160,000 to 225,000, to 325,000 depending on different articles. And good point about DC and VA. And they are not federal workings but Hopkins is one of the major employees in the city and it sounds like lots of their research funding and grants will be stopped. So that might be more people looking for jobs in the mix.
Wes Moore means well, and I like him, but I am not sure how much MD can help. It was having budget issues before all this mess. And of course I am sure his open dislike of Trump, and lets be honest - his color, will probably have an effect on Dumbass's and Elmo's cuts.
I hope Trudeau’s statement where he ends it with “these tariffs are in direct contravention of the agreement President Trump signed” gets fair airtime on US channels. It’s a biting line - he’s saying his own deals suck and you want to believe he knows what he’s doing here?Trump - we are putting tariffs today as promised. This is in response to Canada and Mexico financially ripping us off for years
Canada and Mexico - you told us it was because it fentanyl

Democrats Must Become the Workers’ Party Again
Reconnecting the Democratic Party to the working class is an electoral and a moral imperative, and it will be my mission for the rest of my life.newrepublic.com
I hope he steps into the Governor's race and then takes a crack at President or Vice President.
I had some restricted stock grants that were distributed to me yesterday. Naturally they are already worth less than when I got them yesterday.^
Could it be that he wants to crash the market in order for all his oligarch cronies to get even richer by buying the dip?

Granted, I did not purchase these as they were awarded but nothing makes you warm and fuzzy they keep losing value.
Mrs 43 and I are staring to take a hard look at where we stand as I'm about ten years out and she's 12 or so. Our planner showed us a situation where 2 people with roughly the same assets retired 4 years apart (2004 vs 2008) and the 2004 guy has accumulated money and the 2008 person is essentially broke just because they happened to retire just before the housing bubble collapse.I feel bad for those folks close or just starting retirement watching their retirement savings melting away.
