I haven’t watched the new batch of eps yet, but the “universe” is not over. There is a new movie coming that will be firmly placed in THIS universe, but it will also solidify the Jackie Chan / Justice Smith KK into the universe as well.

i actually doubt it... they went so heavily with nostalgia... and the New Karate kid always felt like it was not part of the franchise...

But they could have still referenced it more... if i remember correctly, the wife was her cousin... but that is still a weird reference...

the final episodes dropped yesterday... i ended up binging it last night...

i guess it was a fine end... nothing too crazy... Gave Kreese a sweet ending... which i actually liked... also closed all the story lines... surprisingly enough...

they did play it safe for the most part... it was a very happy ending for EVERYONE, which was a little weird...

Silver remained the bad guy... and that was fine... no complaints...

10/10 for the writers realizing that Daniel's daughter had no shot at winning and sidelined her.

Anytime you have a Rocky III/Karate Kid "You're the best!" montage, you really cannot lose.
Nostalgia trumps reality.

But how can they have all these montage of serious training when the event is “tomorrow”?

It’s not that she had no shot. It just added nothing to the story. Who cares if 2 friends can now fight without it getting in the way of their friendship. That is a nothing story.

And with there being so much more drama between the 2 girls that faced each other.

I think Soar meant that the daughter was clearly fat and there was no way to show her being competitive in an athletic endeavor. The edits in these fights made it clear what actors knew Karate or were athletic enough to fake it and which were clearly just out of shape actors surviving by the quick cuts.

I understood. But if it fit the story they could have faked it. It wasn’t like Peyton List was a good fighter. They even ended that fight quick because faking it was too hard.
