Finished watching part one yesterday. Thought it was fine and mostly treaded water it seemed. I’m assuming part two is going to mainly be the tournament. Just curious as to how they’ll do part three, which I’m assuming is the aftermath and the conclusion of everything.

i dont think it was the quality of the writing... i think the writers didnt realize that the show was good enough, that it could stand alone from the nostalgia...

there was no need for the 2 evil teams... you brought in kobra kai... let them be the bads ... especially when they got a brand new chinese team... it would have been ok to make them the BEST, while Miyagi Do was the underdogs as always...

also, it seemed like lots of the main teenage characters went backwards this season...

Been watching pt 2 (watching ep 8 now).

Wow, the writing has gone to crap. I think Milk is right that they had a great idea for a single season, but when S1 was a huge hit, they were stuck moving forward with a story that had no legs.

I hate where they are going with Chosen. The actor has no comedic timing and the character doesn’t work as comic relief. And why do they make every person who studies martial arts have a super short fuse. The little but if training I have done in MA (Tai kwon do and Judo) is more about being at inner peace than throwing fists.

Kenny Payne shot up about a foot in about a week in in-story time. Petty complaint, but casting is part of a show, and that is just a sign of really bad casting.

Zara is cute, but she needs to tame those caterpillars on her face.

the writers only care about nostalgia... which is too bad, because the show has past the point of nostalgia... i was truly expecting an evolution on all the characters going into this part 2...

but then they get to spain, and not only is there kobra kai(which i guess was needed to create a bad guy), but they brought in another team that was not only the best, but was ran by a kobra kai past...

nah, they explained it in show... you must have missed it... but it was just added for nostalgia... oddly so, because nobody cares about random scenes in a sequel...

New Karate Kid movie coming out in May starring Macchio and Jackie Chan. It will bring the remake from a few years ago into the KK canon, and it looks like it will be a continuation of Cobra Kai (though I hope it doesn’t have the same tenor).
