Definitely a nice deal for the Packers. Very surprised how many of these players are signing back with their teams at this time considering there is so much money on the open market.

That's still a lot for a slot receiver but I'm happy he's back

Not sure I would call him a pure slot receiver though as he did play 90% of all offensive snaps. That is a starter value so you have to pay him as a starter.

Could have gotten more on the open market... big upset to not hit the market.
10 million per year is a very good deal for a slot receiver plus he gets to catch passes from Aaron Rodgers. He did the right thing.

Maybe they like the team they're with. Money isn't everything.

That is how I feel as well

Good deal for the Packers IMO... maybe a little rich for slot WR, but he opens middle of field, can play out of the backfield, return kicks/punts.

Packers offense should be set for couple of years (Rodgers, Nelson, Cobb, Lacy)... hopefully Adams, R. Rodgers develop some more this year, could be very exciting.

It's like the STL Cardinals...players play there and the just want to stay and resign with them. It's all about the organization's treatment of their players.

My cynical side is saying Cobb is looking for another huge payday at 28, and that's a much riskier prospect if he goes to the Jags or Raiders instead of staying with Rodgers.

It's not all about money for everyone. Maybe he loved playing for GB and he knew Rodgers was going to be around for quite some time?

I think it is all about money for most young players like Cobb. They want that first big payday. Can't blame them for that as players could be one hit away from a career ending injury. Nice to see a player take a hometown discount.

That's not cynical, that's logical.

It makes perfect sense for Cobb to take a bit less to stay in Green Bay. He is only 24 years old. When this deal is up he will be 28 and, assuming he stays reasonably injury free, he will still have the numbers to get another big money deal. That is the point where he should go out and get as much as he can.

But let's say he signed with another team not QBed by an Aaron Rodgers-level talent (basically, any team not New England, Denver, Indy or New Orleans). Sure, he will get that extra 8 million, but his numbers will suffer and he will most likely not be in position to get big money again in 4 years.

I think him coming back to Green Bay gives him the best chance to maximize his earnings over his career AND lets him play for a perennial contender (which, I imagine, is more fun).

Green Bay definitely overpaid a bit, but we obviously would not be able to keep him unless we did, and hell, as I said, he is only 24. He may still be getting better.

I am worried Maclin is gone from Philly if people are offering that kind of coin for #2 wideouts.

The fact that GB had to pay $10 million a year, even though it was getting a bit of a hometown discount, suggests he could have gotten $11 or more elsewhere.
