Grimes has done more in 10 months than Newsome did in his tenure. It's a damn shame that VT can't keep him. Maybe we can bring in Todd Washington this time.

I'll get back to talking with Tony Washington, Todd's dad, and tell him to get his boy back to Blacksburg:happy:

Washington would be a great Plan B. I would imagine his salary requirements might be more along what Grimes wants/would expect. He has coached in the league as well.

I heard that Grantham had taken the job at Louisville but hadn't seen the figures. Sounds like Louisville is paying him a cool million/year to be their DC!!!

With that being said, VT is going to have to pony up..and in a big way...soon. I think I read somewhere that the VT staff pay is somewhere around 38-40th in the country. I imagine if you add in Fosters annuity and the what Lefty and Grimey are actually getting paid (accounting for what Auburn is still paying) those numbers may be a bit higher...but still.

Hanging onto coaches like Loeffler and Grimes won't come cheap. I am shocked that some programs have not made more of a push for Gray. Moorehead looks like another young up and comer who will be a good one and could see his stock rise over the next few years.

VT brass better start bringing the jack or the wheels could come off. A Foster move somewhere down the road (after his gets his bonus) I would never count out either...

If Louisville can bring that kind of $$$ to the table for quality coaches..then why the F can't VT?? Or is it a matter of they could but don't want to or feel like they need to?? I look at it as a major financial investment. Good coaches ( = good money) can bring in good/great players and win ALOT of games increasing ticket sales (which are starting to lag), growing booster $$$ and everything else. Do they not know this is a business??

While I totally hear ya - you need $$ to make Big $$. Louisville has a pretty amazing basketball program that probably rakes in alot of dough. So I am assuming that doesn't hurt when it comes to the school making a commitment to pay higher with other revenue generating sports. I think no matter what the VT powers that be could be pretty creative like they have been with Bud. So no matter what we need to be doing SOMETHING here at least...

We will learn about our VT football program within the next few weeks / months. Are we committed to getting back to where we were as a program? Or are we going to do the bare minimum it takes to flinging out more of the same that we have experienced the last couple of years....

These coaching salaries are getting out of hand. Do salary caps need to be implemented?

and from what I hear, he was about to get a raise at FSU that would have put him damn near what UGA is paying him

I seem to recall Stiney being a pretty decent OL coach. I don't know that I'd mind Stiney taking over the OL if it meant Shane moved to Special Teams and we brought in an exciting RB coach. Probably not my first choice, and probably not CFB's, but in my mind at least it would depend on who we could get to coach RBs vs. who we could get to coach the OL.
