Most intriguing prospects on short season rosters

Rangers: Osleivis Basabe, SS/2B, No. 17
After failing to sign Shohei Ohtani after the 2017 season, the Rangers used part of their leftover international bonus pool money to land Basabe for $550,000 out of Venezuela that December. He finished third in the Rookie-level Dominican Summer League batting race at .344 in his 2018 pro debut, then delivered two hits and three RBIs on Monday in his first game in the United States (Rookie-level Arizona League).

Basabe's 2 hits were a triple and a double.

Gallo and Heineman both homered tonight on rehab with the Rookie leaguers.

Not talking about anyone here specifically, but It’s disappointing that all some people are thinking about is “trade bait” right now. This team isn’t terrible enough to trade everyone away. People should just kick back and enjoy a better season than we all expected.

Hr is hitting well right now, but like Odor, we have seen him have hot streaks before and then plummet.

That's not really the point, people on this board love to bad mouth players they don't like even when they're playing well, and give them zero credit when they are

DDJ has hit over .300 for the almost the entire month of June and there is a resounding groan anytime some people see him in the lineup, even after he's a had a good month of solid play... "but he's got a noodle arm"

I get bad mouthing Odor, he's done almost nothing all year, minus the occasional 3-4 game streak where he's not terrible, he's been awful

Don't get cute with the draft.

The draft is all about maneuvering and getting "cute" with teams having a draft pool to sign their picks, like it or not, short of having a shot at the elite prospects, it's a long game in the ML Draft

That would include you, just enjoy the season and stop trying to deplete the farm system, I've always said play it out, stand pat, and when we're no longer in contention, try to extract a maximum package for our guys, if possible... bc you never know when a Dempster will turn into a Hendricks down the road

I have no problem holding onto Minor or Lynn, but I also don't really want to go "Dempster diving" and paying a premium price on trash

I’m not advocating making huge trades that deplete the farm, but there has to be a way to fill some holes by picking up salary dumps similar to the Yankees EE trade or deals for decent players who don’t cost much in prospects.

All I should need to say is ryan Dempster for kyle Hendricks and Tanner Roark for christian guzman, but i've said it and it doesn't register for you

Not surprising, but will they get him to go to the minors to try and correct what is wrong??

If he can correct what is wrong he is a decent pitcher and would give the young'uns more time in the minors (which obviously they need from what I'm seeing when they come up).

Here is something you might find interesting: The New Alternative to Tommy John Surgery – UCL Repair with Internal Brace
I think he has to go through the waiver wire before we can pick him up for a minor league contract.

I wouldn't think any other team would pick him up and put him on their 25 man roster so it would be the minors for him no matter what, BTA some teams do some silly stuff and they just might.
