Care to name that splashy bat we should have acquired to be a part time bench player instead of someone like Lamb?

OK, he's been decent. 18 games .233 6HR 16 RBI 9R 2BB. And he's an everyday player, not just a guy you drop Dylan Moore for. He'd likely replace Winker regularly, right?

Winker last 18 games. .194 4HR 11RBI 12R 16BB

He's been slightly better than who he'd replace, but 2 HR and 5 RBI doesn't transform this team into some juggernaut.

I don't know if you were around or still on hiatus from being a fan, but a guy named Haniger was added to the lineup shortly after the break, and he's been pretty good.

And he would be a big improvement over Moore at the plate. And Mancini at DH is also a huge improvement. But okay.

He would have been a slight improvement at DH probably, sure. Enough to warrant crying that the sky is falling because we didn't add a .233 hitter? I don't think so.

Haniger missed more than half the season. Who knows, maybe we are still in the division race had he played all year maybe the rest of the teams hits better themselves with him up all year. Maybe they'd add all the extra needed if Lewis could play more than two weeks at a time. Lots of maybe.

Injuries are a thing and so are slumps. Saying any one player does or doesn't put them over the top is just maybe.

What we do know is quality teams make every single addition they can to maximize their odds. They have a better chance with every upgrade.

He wasn't added he was already on the same team that has had a bottom offense the last two years. And if you took out time to stop patting yourself on the back you would realize nobody said him coming back wouldn't help. What was said, and proven, is he wasn't enough and he has not a guy you can count on to stay healthy. He might slide on the fold line and come down with an incurable rash putting him out for the year. I do enjoy your arrogance on the obvious though. That takes real fandom...

True but he would be 4th in homers and RBI's on this team so...

I look at it being him vs Lamb. Yes Lamb plays 3B, but Suarez never takes a day off and if we needed to replace him with Lamb long term stretch we would be screwed anyways.

Same with Lewis if he ever hits at the big club again.

As long as we still have a bench full of sub mendoza hitters we have holes that even .230 hitters would have upgraded.
